So, first time I mixed so many crafting techniques for one project. Sewing, crocheting and beading. Wow...
The frog turned out a little grumpy. Not sure why. Oh well, maybe the princess is not to his liking?
And I'm learning to really dislike felt for sewing. Couldn't stuff the ball as tightly as I wanted (to avoid ripping), which made the thing a little lumpy. Sewing the stars onto the ball was difficult, too (also because of the ripping potential). Should have put the stars on the felt pieces before sewing. Should I ever make something similar, I'll know better.

Small star and crown are my own design.
Material:
- felt (for ball)
- yarn (for frog)
- beads (2mm for crown and stars, 5mm for eyes)
- polyester filling (for ball and frog)
- wire (for frog limbs)
Frog and golden ball together are 10.5cm (4.5") tall.
Arrangement made with fake flowers and circular folding paper.

Very nice, and looks like you put a lotta work into it! Too bad he turned out grumpy, though....Maybe he's been a frog for way too long? Or he suddenly had a feeling about how much of a bitch the princess was?

yeah, he should probably wait for a better princess. there has to be one out there.
gotta admit I've grown kinda fond of his grumpy expression. as the tale goes, I think it could have been in character.

that's good then, right?
and I've never quite understood how the prince could go for the princess after she'd been so mean to him. but back in the late 80s I saw a tv adaption with a much longer story where he went missing after that wall throwing incident and she had to go after him to get him back. made much more sense, even though to my knowledge it wasn't in the original tale.

The way I see it, it's more about the princess and how she changes through it all. And I hear how she treats the frog acted like a reflection of her inner self unless she changes.

haha, I'm not much of a seamstress, to be honest. while having a fairly easy pattern, sewing the ball involved some cursing. and I'm still quite slow when it comes to sewing.
but I'm happy you like the result.

Slow is fine, as long as the result looks this good! But I agree--felt's a pain in the butt. And so is lame'. UGH, that puckers like... well, I won't swear. XD

well, back when I got the felt I thought it wouldn't be too bad messing that up than more expensive fabric, but I didn't know it'd cause this much trouble. I may switch to "real" fabric the moment I decide to sew more.

I understand your reasoning, but my mom's a seamstress, so I learned a number of the tricks early. Which is why I mentioned the lame'. Awful stuff.
I highly recommend "real" fabric. It's easier to work with, and harder to screw up than you think. Ripping stitches, if you're careful, won't hurt anything.

I'm a little surprised that a last minute project like this one got a DD. though I have to admit that it managed to totally rope me in while I was working on it. gotta love contests that challenge me to try something a little different.
