Description To commemorate my favorite month (October) and my favorite holiday (Halloween), I'm doing a monster sketch per day.

This is one of the carnivorous monsters from the movie "Critters" (1986). I grew up in the 80's, and was a big fan of the "tiny destructive monster" craze so prevalent in the movies back then. Though "Gremlins" (1984) started the trend and was easily the best of the batch, "Critters" was a close second, with an equally original story, interesting supporting characters, and a very cool pack of funny and frightening monsters.

I remember these! Loved when they formed into the giant critter ball and rolled over cows!

...all of the "little monster" movies run together in my memory, but was this the one that had the running guy followed by the tumbling critter which was visible at almost every scene change (example, main characters enter room, hapless guy pursued by monster rushes across the room, but is otherwise unnoticed and doesn't change the story in any way)?

Nice work on the Critter, and for giving much love to the 1980's, but I didn't see that movie or many of the monster movies made back then.  I was one of the crowd that went to Gremlins, though.  I don't remember Dad having a great desire to take me and my brother to Critters or CHUD or Tremors in the theaters, but Mom liked Tremors when she saw it years later on Sci-Fi.

I always preferred Critters, they tended towards a heavier horror aspect or rather, a horror movie with comedic notes, where as Gremlins fell like a comedy with horror notes tossed in.
I grew up watching these as well and always loved them, I know I sent you a note with a commission idea a while back regarding a scene from Critters 2.

Happy to see you're a fan of the series as well.

Ever watch Tremors? Chud? Dog Soldiers? or Feast?

Also, love this work, the shark like rows of teeth, the evil glare mixed with a smile of a tiny little beast that knows he is about to turn some poor sucker into his personal chew toy.

I am having flashbacks of the easter bunny costume scene

Tremors is one of my all time favorite monster movies. I dug Feast, too. Bought it on DVD soon as it was available.

Damn, there goes my idea for a Christmas present.

Ever see Jack Frost? The B-movie horror flick about a killer snowman
