A conventional jet engine powered craft, the Defender Class is a popular military shuttle for atmospheric work. Manufactured by Syon Aerospace, the aircraft can reach a maximum speed of Mach 2.02 at full afterburner (supercruising at Mach 1) and is sufficiently armored to resist a fair amount of punishment for its size. The large cargo bay in the back has space for two APC’s or one light tank (60-ton payload). The Defender Class is a full V/STOL capable craft and can be ordered with modular swappable bogey wheel and tracked landing gear sets for varying terrain. It is manufactured in the Condor medivac transport, Griffon troop carrier, and Buzzard gunship variants, each suited for certain roles but with many interchangeable parts on the same fuselage design.

Purchased by Tracy in 3140, the Typhoon is a surplus Defender Class Assault Shuttle from the MDF. It was well used, but still had both the chain gun and rotary weapon racks still onboard. Since coming into Tracy’s possession, the vessel has received some additional magic upgrades along with the requisite maps of the Astral and Voidspace Webway put into the navicomputer, and a portal generator now lives in the nose. The aircraft is registered with the tail number M-1916U, and Tracy has a few quasi-legal spoofing mods installed that can make the aircraft mimic other transponder identification signals to fool pursuers or recon stations that are beyond visual range (i.e. I’m not an assault shuttle, I’m an airliner, or a pleasure craft, or a news helicopter, or…etc., etc.). he mostly uses the craft as a long-range RV, but it also often sees combat on missions with the Stonewall Vanguards. Much to the annoyance and consternation of Alabaster’s parents, Tracy has used the Typhoon to help both Alabaster and Calcryx with ‘hot extractions’ whenever they can get messages out in time, “rescuing” them from their doctor appointments. It is for this reason that the shuttle is looked upon with great suspicion whenever the green and white aircraft touches down in the Duchy of Frostholm. When not in use, the shuttle is usually parked at either Stonewall Sanctuary or Green Mesa, on a pad and ready to go.
