Materials and Methods
Nikon D80 + 18-55mm Nikkor + IR remote. Exp +3.0. Window lighting from the side against an angled white wall. GIMP for post editing. Darkened highlights to get rid of the blotches of white over exposure and lightened midtones. Minor color balancing with curves. Not much else.
Additional Comments
Slowly chugging through Zen and Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I'm not fond of the literary style but I find the Sutherlands interesting. I find it rather illogical to believe that machines, as the children of human intellect, could possibly dehumanize us. Rather, machines may help us define and realize our very humanity

Someone already mentinoned it... In heaven there is belived no need for technology... everything can acomplished with just thought...
Or it could be what is hinted at in 'Johnathon Livingston Seagul'... we might transcend to the next level until we reach heaven...

"Plus I never really understood why Heaven and other paradises are generally portrayed as being devoid of technology in western literature." Your're right, interesting point. And isn't it right that there is no disappointment, sadness, fear and other bad feelings up there? Does that means there are no challenges? Sound like a really boring place to me
And one of the few deviations on the front with CC-license - awesome!

The pose is beautiful; I especially like the mirrored curves created by the twisting cord (on the hand) next to the lines of your legs. I also love the simplicity of the white-on-white; it really gives the picture a "quiet" feel while still holding depth.

This is an incredible picture. From the top it has a futuristic look and then fades to retro with the shoes and the amp. The colors, pose and props are perfect.
And I'm glad that you didn't opt for the lab coat. I don't think it would have had the same effect.

hmmmmm...
Mainly the legs, and the pose.
Its quite a proud pose, and kind of primal. (which is a super cool juxtaposition with the tech)
I think its mainly the legs though.
I wish I could give more of an articulate answer...

There's just something to this...
Simplicity, anonymity, allure, even a personal influence and style. I suspect it's not just a combination of said attributes, but a synergy of.
Kudos :]

and now turn it up to 11 :/
i guess Heaven and other paradises are generally portrayed as being devoid of technology, because its considered as a place where you don't have any needs but you'r just satisfied and happy.
How needs an airplane if you have wings, right?
At least they should have some harps^^
btw great picture, awesome use of the given natural lighting...
i like these pictures where the face isn't fully shown. even, in this case, i wouldn't that bad either, hehe^^'
your kind of s-back pose is great too and the clothing works really well - somehow like separation between your clothed torso and the "naked" legs
Just one question... would you say this is already a high key picture?
(sorry for my bad english. I havn't slept for more than one day, so i'm just too lazy to really think about what i wrote. I'm sure you still get it^^)

But I think that's a very Westernized train of thought I was at the park with my friend one time and this old Caucasian lady came up to us and started speaking Chinese. She asked us if we believed the world could ever be as beautiful as this park. We thought she was just trying to chit chat or practice her Chinese or something but it turned out she was trying to convert us by alluding to Heaven
But why does Heaven or paradise have to be a garden full of flowers and winged beings? If it is a place where we don't have any needs but are satisfied and happy anyway, shouldn't Heaven be simply a vast nothingness? I think my Heaven would be an advanced metropolis with lots of robots
I would not consider this a high key picture because the lighting is not that even. The window is to my right but had I been facing the window and such high exposure was also used, I would probably call it high key
Your English is really good Don't worry about it

The western perception of paradise has been formed during the Roman catholic era when scores of painters, sculptors, etc were commissionned by the church and other wealthy nobles to depict the scenes as described in the bible. Those scenes were the mostly from the artist's mind with some strong direction from the church.

hehe the whole "wings and harps"-thing was ironic anyway^^'
as an agnostic i don't really care much about how heaven could be since i can't change it or prepare for it.
if there is really a heaven, i just hope it's a better place then earth...
maybe everyone will get his one version of heaven and you will get your ROBO-City
and with "no needs but satisfied and happy", i just mean you don't have to eat, drink or sleep or so unless you want too^^
and it does not necessarily mean that it will be a vast nothingness, just that you don't have to surround you with all these things you don't really want. like annoying cell phones hehe^^
personally i hope there will be a good library haha^^

Paradises vary depending upon culture ^^
Some view technology as the work of satan and other as the work of improvement.
Though with you standing on the speaker I'm sure I'd go with the work of god
(And yes that was cheesy lol)
