They're finished!! I busted my butt last night to complete this sketch, and I have to say that I'm super happy with it! I love drawing these two... Anyway, since I had already shaded in their clothes, I decided to shade everything that was black in their design as well.

For those who don't know, I have a Twitter account (Jestloo, same as here). For the longest time I wasn't sure how I should use it. I've decided it is mostly going to be used to post WIPs and progress pics of sketches. I thought it would be neat to see how a picture evolves over time till it is completed. (Personally, I always loved seeing how a picture came to be.) There will also be finished colored pictures like here on DA and occasionally, pictures I never finish. Anyway, just letting you guys know.
I'll add notes about any noticable changes I did to each peace. But, there are other tweaks you'll have to find yourself.
I'll go ahead and continue to update this journal with the first sketch though:

Added Yami(Atem's) bangs, moved his ear, and added details to both of their faces. Draped Yugi's left bangs down more over his ear. Fixed back, bottom of Yami(Atem's) spiky ha

About the title: In the english version of the tv show, "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters," Yugi always addressed Yami/Atem as "Pharaoh" (and "Spirit" before they knew his origins). Yami/Atem would just address Yugi by name. In the Japanese version and manga, however, they address each other differently. Yugi calls Yami/Atem "Other Me," while Yami/Atem always addresses Yugi as "Partner." (Both would respond to being called "Yugi" by their friends or foes.) His friends, when they are aware, will sometimes refer to Yami/Atem as the "Other Yugi." Even Seto Kaiba is aware of the "Other Yugi" and in the beginning, referred to him as Yugi's "Other Face."

At first, going from the tv show to the manga, it felt very awkward to me, but now I kinda prefer the manga/Japanese way. The manga also utilizes it at the end of the story, which I thought made it much more impactful than the english tv version. Yugi first calls Yami/Atem, "Other Me" because he and his friends thought that Yami/Atem was an alternate personality that was brought about by the Millennium Puzzle. Later they learn that Yami/Atem was actually the spirit of a pharaoh who was sealed within the Puzzle 3,000 years ago. (And that Yugi was the only host that the Millennium Puzzle chose to let solve it.) Even after they learned that the Pharaoh's real name was Atem, Yugi still decided to continue calling him, "Other Me." After the final duel, were Yugi and Atem faced each other and Yugi winning meant that Atem had to pass on to the afterlife, Yugi fell to the ground crying. The two share a great moment, when Atem encourages Yugi.

Yugi: "Sob...nnh...snf..."
Atem: "You did it, Partner. You win."
Yugi: "Nnh..."
Yami kneels down to Yugi: "Stand up... The winner shouldn't be on his knees."
Yugi: "..."
Atem: "If I were you... I wouldn't cry!"
Yugi: "I... I'm too weak... You were my hero... My goal... I wanted to be strong... Like you... That's all..."
Atem: "You're not weak... You've always had a power that no one else could beat... The power of kindness... That's what I learned from you. Partner..."
Yugi: "..."
Atem brings Yugi to his feet: "The courage you showed by fighting me... Showed me the path I must take..."
Yugi: "Other Me..."
Atem: "... No, Yugi... I am not the 'Other You' anymore... And you... are no one else but you! You are Yugi... The only Yugi Mutou in the world!"

Those two were sharing a body for several years. Yami/Atem always took over during difficult/dangerous times, while Yugi watched on in the background. In the beginning, Yugi was a weak little kid with no friends and getting bullied all of the time. After Yami/Atem appeared, his life turned around (well, and there were some people who wanted to kill the pharaoh, but...). Yugi gained confidence and learned to be brave for the ones he cared about. Yami/Atem learned the importance of kindness and friendship. Having been through so much together and becoming close friends, Yugi could hardly bare to let Yami/Atem go. But, he pulled through and defeated him in the ritual, despite his desire to not see his friend leave forever. By the way, defeating Yami/Atem was an incredible feat! He was "Yu-Gi-Oh!" aka, the "King of Games." In the manga he, technically never lost a game. (He would have won against Pegasus, had he not run out of time, which Pegasus had stalled on purpose during his turns. And he would have beaten Kaiba, had Kaiba not threaten to commit suicide if he lost, causing Yugi to take over and end his winning attack.) Yugi became the only duelist to beat Yami/Atem in a fair game.

Anyway, I hope to color this picture, but it may take a while, since I've started school.
Sucks that I've finished the series... However, I do want to sketch out Atem in his Egyptian attire as well as draw adorable "season 0" Yugi!
