Updated 27/07/2015Not really a fanart, as the title says it's the map of the 2 Americas made using Himaruya's characters.

Notes:
This was made interely using Himaruya's art. With the official characters who were on the cover of Vol 4 you can see:
- the micronation repubblic of Molossia.
- the Canadian province Quebec from Vol 2 Ep 'Fly Canada, fly'.
- the character used to represent Native Americans in the webcomic Main Storyline part 3. I'm assuming as there are still native Americans in USA he's still around somewhere in USA.
- Paraguay was mentioned in a FIFA 2010 sketch but his design wasn't revealed, which is why I only posted his name.
- Mexico was mentioned in in the drama CD adaptation of 'Lithuania's Out-Sourcing', in 'America and the World Map' strip, and in Comic Birz Episode 9 but his design wasn't revealed, which is why I only posted his name.
- Canada has its own map available here .
- Haiti hasn't been confirmed as official. In the manga we saw a nation that worked as a pirate with England against Spain and that showed up in France's memory when he told Seychelles he knew how real pirates were in a blog post dated 18/Oct/2011. Likely he's one of the Carribean states and since in Haiti there's Tortuga... Anyway his name wasn't given so, if in the future it'll be revealed as different, I might end up changing this picture.
- Ecuador has showed up in Himaruya's blog on 14/Nov/2013.
- Greenland has showed up in a gadget for the anime series on 10/July/2015. Technically Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark however even though it has been ethnically, politically and culturally associated with Europe since physiographically it's a part of the continent of North America I also placed it here (also in the Europe map his landmass was barely visible so I thought it would do no harm to place him here for a better view...).
Sadly however you can't see any character from central or south America as Himaruya didn't draw them. I could have cut half of the map but I've left it in hope he'll draw those characters and I'll manage to update this map.
Himaruya finally showed an interest in characters from south America, starting with Ecuador and expressing an interest in drawing more of them so hopefully we'll see more south American characters soon.

I think that the Haiti one is most likely to be Belize,since Haiti was a French Colony (He wouldn't have those eyebrows! )

Well, everything is possible since all we know from that character is that he was an important pirate nation mentioned by France (Belize too had its own pirates but the Haitian ones were more famous...)... though since his skin seems to be heavily tanned I don't think he's supposed to resemble France or Spain or England but that he looks more like Cuba.
Also I'm not so sure if he really has thick eyebrows or if they only look like it due to how tiny the draw is... they seems more or less the same width as Molossia and he doesn't have thick eyebrowns. But well, everything is possible and since Himaruya seems to have forgotten him it's also possible he dropped him entirely. Let's see if he'll show up again.

Yes, sadly it is. Himaruya said he wanted to draw more south American countries alng with Equador but since he has disappeared again Equador is all we got... and Haiti isn't confirmed... -_-

Honestly I would like to do also Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, I think it would be interesting and also fun to watch interact with the other characters. But hey, we have to wait and be patient

Haiti is assumed to be one of the pirate countries France tried to warn Seychelles about when she dressed as a pirate.
Though it's not confirmed.

Your maps are awesome. (Sorry I didn't send this first!) Thanks for taking the time out of your day to do this. ^_^ Yes, it is a pity that he didn't do much for Latin America. Something he should also do, great a character for Hawaii (Hawai'i), after all it was it's own nation for a while and because of westerners and other settlers (Americans and the English) they became great friends with Japan (the Emperor of Japan and the King of Hawaii, since the beginning of their relations till the time the Kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown by greedy business men, both nation and former nation were great friends). I just think it would be great. ^_^

There's so many characters he should create starting from more ancients and going to present time nations.
I don't know if he plans to create the characters for the states that were prior to the USA like he did with the German states. It seems pretty obvious he's not going to create the pre-unitarian Italian states which were really many and existed for centuries as he insists to represent Italy's history with just Veneziano and occasionally Romano so... who know.

Eh, that's too bad. Well 'Hetalia' is a real difficult project, and I suppose it's just easier to just do that. Which is why people can find Anti 'Hetalia' blogs and sites, he's making short cuts. However I sort of understand him skipping around the globe, trying to just make a non cannon oc it is extremely easy to get distracted. ^-^"
And I meant just Hawaii, it's actually sad how their kingdom had to end though.
It took the late 1800's - President Bill Clinton to formally apologize to the natives of Hawaii.
And during that time more than 50% of those in jail were native Hawaiians while 30% were homeless and the majority were uneducated, I believe it was 1993.
I know it sounds for an American to say this, but I really wish Hawaii to become its own nation once again (What's weirder is the fact I'm a mainlander).
Oh, if I finish making my of of New Jersey would you look at it, I'm asking because that place has a very strong Italian heritage (when I lived there all 3 of my friends were of Italian decent). Of course it's also highly Americanized. If you could, when I finish, then I would appreciate it greatly, thank you.

It's pretty easy to dislike Hetalia or find it offensive. Even Himaruya himself had edited some things to make Hetalia 'softer'.
*nods* I've heard a little about it. It's sad but I don't know what Himaruya would do about it. If I'm not wrong he said America's glasses are Texas so... is Hawaii the jacket America wears and on which is written 50 in his mind? Or could Hawaii have its own personification?
I'll be happy to look at it although I don't know if I'll manage to be useful. People of Italian descent that had birth out of Italy often grow to become very different from Italians without even realizing it.

Native Americans live either on reserves (land put off to the side, pacifically for them) in cities (large population in Californian cities) and all over the USA, especially in the states of Oklahoma and Arizona (maybe new Mexico too...).
Then there's the mixed children,
for example I happen to be 1/16 of Cherokee meaning my grandfather was 1/4 or one of his grandparents was full blooded. Being mixed with some kind of Native descent is actually common.

I'm sad at how he neglected so many wonderful countries as well. It's such a pity he found more interesting micronations than real nations. Though there are way too many things I don't understand about him and his way to handle Hetalia.

Himaruya ha creato più personaggi per le micronazioni che per gli stati effettivi, quasi o.o
Peccato che non abbia ancora creato personaggi per l America latina...mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere Venezuela xP
In compenso i fan di hetalia che sono di quelle parti possono inventarsi personaggi dei propri stati con più libertà... Noi invece dobbiamo cercare di reinterpretare quelli che ci ha affibbiato lui Dx

Già, il che è piuttosto deprimente specie quando le micronazioni sono cose così, dell'ultimo minuto. Mi stanno bene Seborga, che ha un passato da nazione, Sealand, che in fondo una sua storia ce l'ha, posso arrivare ad accettare Wy ma NikoNiko sembra esistere solo perché è giapponese e Ladonia e Kugelmugel sembrano più delle curiosità che altro.
Personalmente preferirei che finisse prima gli stati veri.
Io dell'america del sud vorrei il Brasile e l'Uruguai... e per l'america centrale il Messico.
Sì, in un certo senso chi ha l'OC almeno non se lo vede rovinato.
Una ragazza ha scritto una fanfic con il suo OC per Etiopia in relazione con l'Italia e ha fatto Etiopia ovviamente tosta mentre Italia è la lagna che Himaruya ci propina.
Se l'Etiopia di Hetalia Gakuen fosse stato usato invece che avere solo 2 battute senza comparire come personaggio disegnato probabilmente non avrebbe avuto tanta libertà di movimento.
Mi fa piacere che li trovi utili, me li sono fatti proprio per tenere d'occhio tutti i personaggi e poi ho pensato di condividerli perché magari anche altri li trovavano utili...

Le micronazioni sono divertenti ma prima dovrebbe davvero darsi una mossa con gli stati veri D:

a quanto ricordo però gli etiopi hanno dato del filo da torcere agli italiani durante le varie guerre coloniali.. come anche i libici.. quindi magari ci può stare anche, un pochino ^^ (certo però non dovrebbe essere a quei livelli, Italia D

Mah, credo che non gli servissero tutte quelle micronazioni per creare gag che poteva creare con altri stati.
Sì, non si sono arresi facilmente e c'è stato chi ha continuato a combattere, onore al merito.
La fanfic di cui parlo però è sbilanciata, in quanto Etiopia è perfetta (e, in un certo senso, anche America, anche se non come Etiopia) mentre tutti gli altri sono... beh, di molto inferiori, compresi Inghilterra e Francia.
Intendiamoci, ci sono altre fanfic che prendono un personaggio canon e, rappresentandone la storia dal suo punto di vista lo 'santificano' a discapito degli altri ma, allo stesso tempo, queste fanfic hanno un contrappeso nelle fanfic che rappresentano questi personaggi in modo 'Hetalico'. Per chi non ha una controparte Hetalica questo non succede.

Capisco che intendi, a volte succede anche a me quando provo a scrivere qualcosa.. magari l'autrice non si trova a saper scrivere nella stessa maniera di tutti i personaggi; pure io se dovessi scrivere qualcosa su.. che ne so.. Romano e Francia, sono sicura che Francia lo sbaglierei in pieno, mentre magari darei un po' più di dignità a Romano (un po' più di quella che di solito gli danno, intendo...)

Beh, credo che vivesse Hetalia come un hobby che gli permetteva di guadagnare all'inizio. Intendiamoci, un hobby a cui dedicava tantissimo tempo ma pur sempre una cosa che faceva come piaceva a lui. Credo che una parte del calo di Hetalia sia dovuta al fatto che la Gentosha ora glielo stia facendo considerare sempre di più un lavoro e non un hobby...
Mah, per me è più che altro una fanfic in cui si vogliono esaltare certi personaggi/stati e criticarne altri.
Per cui il problema non è tanto nel come si caratterizza ma nel come si vuol caratterizzare.
Se dici che il personaggio X fa una cosa brutta ma è perché glielo ha detto il suo capo e lui era contrario ma lo ha fatto perché costretto, giustifichi il personaggio X, se dici che X ha fatto una cosa brutta perché lo voleva lui lo critichi.
Se cerchi di fare una fanfic drammatico-storica diventa importante come presenti il fatto perché se scegli di dire che... Francia picchia Romano autonomamente, butti la colpa su tutti i francesi mentre se lo fa perché gli è stato ordinato la dai solo al suo capo o alle circostanze. E per far ciò non occorre saper scrivere bene il personaggio basta decidere se si trova colpevole un popolo od il suo governante.

Non so se l'autrice è Americano-Etiope o no (il profilo dice solo USA) ma sì, l'idea è di criticare l'Italia a tutto spiano ed esaltare l'Etiopia (e, vagamente, l'America). In sé è molto patriottica e in quello che chiamo 'stile americano' ossia l'arte di rappresentare il tuo paese come buono ed eroico e chi gli viene contro come cattivo.
Da una parte capisco. Quando si studia la storia del tuo paese i fatti ti vengono presentati dal punto di vista del tuo paese. Per esempio l'Austria durante il Risorgimento è 'brutta e cattiva' ma quando vai a guardare l'Austria agiva così perché all'epoca ci si comportava così. Non faceva niente di più o niente di meno di quello che facevano gli altri per la mentalità dell'epoca.
Certi territori italiani erano suoi e ne poteva fare ciò che voleva. Quelli che per noi son diventati patrioti per lei erano briganti, criminali che si opponevano all'ordine costituito.
E per ripristinare l'oridine l'Austria ricorreva ai sistemi dell'epoca, non trovando niente di male nel fare quello che fece a Brescia, per esempio.
Però è molto facile ignorare il punto di vista del nemico e rappresentarlo come brutto e cattivo perché così si esalta di più l'eroe della storia. L'Etiopia quando perde è una vittima dell'Italia avida. L'azione d'attacco dell'Italia è da condannare in toto per cui non può per esempio dire che l'Italia fa cio che fa perché gli viene ordinato. Attirerebbe simpatia nei confronti dell'Italia e ridurrebbe la portata della condanna. Mentre l'Etiopia può commettere errori perché il suo capo sbaglia, così la colpa di uno o di pochi non ricade sul paese che resta eroico.
E tutto rende più facile trasmettere il messaggio anche se, alla fine, risulta una visione storica parziale e di parte.
