Description Character Key, just for fun.

As I was designing some of these characters, a group of them emerged that I thought would make a nice Canadian team. The name Northlight suggested itself to me, it sounds good, it makes a good hero team name(I think) and it's the name of an artist's group up in the Great White North.

Ice-Lord and Sunstorm are, possibly, the oldest villain characters in our "universe". Sunstorm's costume was somewhat influenced by the horribly-named Legion bad-guy, Absorbancy Boy. He wore a costume with a sinister winged helmet, which the Legion used in their own "live fire" exercises. Ice-Lord and Sunstorm are brothers.
Black Spectre was actually a later creation, but I wanted someone in black, lurking. You can barely make him out near ME. Rapid and Magenta are new, don't have a clue what Magenta does, I just like the color. Centurion is the first and favorite armored character I ever created. A large part of his design was borrowed (stolen) from some throwaway armored guys John Byrne used in Star-Lord.

Corona and Galaxia are siblings, and aliens. I created them one night, in the dark. I scribbled ideas for a prince and princess, fleeing their homeworld's conquerors and finding refuge on Earth. They have energy powers. A few weeks later, DC introduced us to the New Teen Titans and Starfire.
This has all happened before. It will happen again.
Night-Wing was a beautiful girl who thought her shimmering black bat-wings made her ugly. She was Mega's first girlfriend, in our stories that never were.
Warbot's new, I just sketched in a clunky armored figure and inked it that way. Bluebird and Smash are new.

Ultiman is OLD. Like, paleolithic. Ultiman was my first original super-hero. This version came later, after a heavy dose of Jim Starlin's Warlock and Captain Marvel.

We created characters for our friends, since we had characters for ourselves. Wildstar was Jeff's character. Mega, mine. Fire Hawk (before the girl in Firestorm was intro'd) was our friend Richard. Titan was Bob's idea, even the costume. Mantra was a friend's character, I designed the suit and Chuck came up with the name. There was even one for my once and future wife, Tammy, though by the time this scene takes place, Aurora has already been killed. Cassandra was, originally, a powerful telekinetic, but I've amped her powers up over the years.

Thanks. I wish I had George Perez's godlike patience with large crowd scenes. I don't know how he does it.

Sadly, I think I'm past that point. My hand aches after drawing awhile. I've finally learned why old comic artists become editors. Unfortunately, I was never in comics, so no chance of that. Though I am a pretty decent editor.

Well, a whole lot of this is still in my head. But, I have a few years worth of Heroblog posts that tell a story of a different universe that crossed over with our old high school universe, and brought some of the Guardians characters into that universe.
And my web comic, Ad Astra is set in the future of the Hegoblog universe, and the Guardians are an important part of it.
HeroBlog is at www.heroblog.com
Ad Astra is at www.adastracomic.com
I appreciate anyone reading my stuff.
