I'm starting to think that Japanese-made games have become very flashy to look at but are no longer fun to play.What the hell happened?!

Really I agree with you, first its giant robots(very cool) now its skimpy clothed girls with samuari swords and guns(aka Onichinenbar-however its spelled and bayonetta...) its kinda idiotic that japan has hit this low...

Whaaaat? I thought it was crazy fun to play. I honestly didn't find it very inticing (tiny head + massive legs + arm flapping = giant chicken woman), but I thought the gameplay was really fun and solid. You die a lot one way or another, but the respawn points are so close together that it doesn't stop you from getting through the game. You get a low rating but who cares?
Really surprised you didn't find the gameplay fun, but oh well. To each his own, I suppose.
One thing I am *very* grateful for after playing old Final Fantasies is pausable and skippable cutscenes.

Sorry I would have to disagree, I found the game really fun. It was indeed challenging but it rewarded you for learning how to play, but I guess its just a matter of opinion. Excellent comic though, they never fail to make me laugh

lazy game play disguised as q.t.e.;s happened and programers everywhere fell in love. want to take something over sure...just get this ever hanging 36 button q.t.e. right and your in like flyn. want to finish a boss battle that took you forever to get his god damn health down to near nothing...get this 85 button q.t.e. right or he'll recharge his health and analy rape you.
i fucking hate q.t.e.'s almost as much as i hate escort missions. it's not real game play it's fucking padding for people who think we won't know the differenace or feel it'll make for a more satsfying feeling when we beat these insane and getting longer q.t.e's they are about as dumb as the achievements or trophies they throw at you in games these days.

And this is why I traded the game in. Never played Devil May Cry, wanted to give this game the benefit of the doubt, but it bored me and punished me for actually trying to play the game with near instant death or more cutscenes.

They think now that an amount of lights and flashies are enough to entertain people. The sad thing is that many boys there DO accept it because a graphic game is more than enough for them... ¬¬,,,,

I saw that they basically put Sarah Palin's face on her and decided against it months ago.
Then I heard about it's one button play mode.(Like we need any hints on what that was for.) And really lost interest.

That's what you get when console focus on fancy graphics rather than focusing on gameplay. Games with better graphics but crappy gameplay. That's why Wii is the best.

i agree, i mean i love visuals as much as the next guy but where is the gameplay. I often talk about how good games like the die hard trilogy on ps1 were. And all i get in response is but the graphics suck. Kids these days will play with anything that looks pretty, like A.D.D. kids and shiny stuff.

not yet, i have the demo. don't worry the comic didn't deter me. I have yet to find a game i didn't enjoy, just ones i feel could have been refined a little more

Bayonetta is a great game, but just a royal PITA when you first start it. Found out the game likes the PS3 controller to be plugged in since the wireless function is puny.

Dunno, but I must admit I loved the game. Granted, I only played it on super easy mode (but that is because I'm a horrible gamer and just enjoy the story and some random monster slashing in button smashing attitude), but in that mode it was a lot lot lot of fun.

I found Bayonetta to be enjoyable to play, it has some of the best controls within the genre of character action games, and some of the best dodge system in every game, ever. It depends on your taste I guess.

I really agree with this, the difficulty on Bayonetta really surprised me how hard it was since i have played other "hack and slash/Extreme combat games" like God of war and Devil May cry.
But the worst part in Bayonetta is the ps3 version's loading time.
Theres a loading time on the pause menu? srsly wtf?!

yes, the ps3 version is the port done by SEGA, it's disappointing compared to the quality of the 360 version, and I hear its slightly easier.
If you're new to character action games, it may be a hard one to start with.

I loved it. It was such a parody of itself, and I'm sure the creators knew how funny it was; it never took itself that seriously. If they had it would be the worst thing ever.

I think that the prettiest and more or less least fun lately has been FF13. I mean, it's a lovely game, and all, and if it was a shooter, it'd be great.
But it's sort of like Casino Royal was for movies. Just like that movie would have been great except for the James Bond in the title, and thus comparison to previous Bonds, this suffered from Final Fantasy in the title, forcing comparison to previous FFs.
