In Belgium at least they fully automated the tax forms now; if you don't change anything on the online form it's accepted by default even if you do nothing. They already know everything anyway, so why the heck would we have to waste time filling it in?

That is quite depressingly accurate, although Bernard was also caught between 2 stools in that he felt that he had a duty to do his best for Hacker, but knew that Appleby was the man responsible for his salary and promotion prospects.

I actually just got done googling "UK tax season" and got a pretty loud and pleasant laugh out of learning that "Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs" was an actual acronym.
