Description
Another character design for Pirates of the Foggy Waters, this time the other main villain of the series Lokak. A creepy undead pirate lord with magical powers and command his own army of zombies and monsters. When I say he's the other main villain, I mean like he's the biggest threat out of the villains who are not part of the Pride. In fact he's pretty much on par with Emperor Dominus in terms threat level and just how evil they are. But while Dominus is a force of oppression and order, Lokak is the opposite being a force of chaos and corruption. He's essentially this world's version of the devil, being sly and manipulative, trying to corrupt those he comes into contact with pushing them to give in to their darkest desires, and swindling people out of their souls.

Lokak has a hatred for all living creatures and wishes to make them all suffer, while having a very twisted sense of humor. So he'd sail the seas spreading chaos and misery, creating all sorts of different monsters to terrorize people. He's very much a sadist who enjoys the suffering he brings to others. In his mind everyone deep down is as evil as he is and just need the right push to give in to their own dark desires. He's also a master con artist, who'll use his powerful magical abilities to grant people their greatest desires and wishes. But these wishes will come with a terrible price, for with these wishes you must sign a contract that'll grant Lokak ownership over your soul. So when you die you'll be transformed into a zombie and be forced to spend all of eternity as member of Lokak's 'Crew of the Damned'. Lokak is also able to claim the souls of those who die out at sea, or those who die by his blade. Lokak weilds a sword known as 'The Agony Blade', a cursed magical sword that carries the souls he has claimed and are now in constant pain and agony.

Not much is known about Lokak's past, from what little is known in life he was once a notorious pirate who practiced dark magic. Until he was caught and executed for his crime, he died with a smile on his face earning him the title of 'The Smiling Hangman'. It's said that he was sent to Hell only to get banished and he came back to the mortal world as the undead monster he is today (nobody knows what he did to get kicked out of Hell in the first place). Lokak is very much immortal, he can't be killed or harmed by any natural weapons, so one will have to use holy items or anything enchanted with light magic in order to fight him. But even if you do kill him it won't be permanent for Lokak will always live for as long as there is darkness in people's hearts.

I view Lokak as a sort of corruption of Primonk's free spirited nature, he has Primonk's own love and sense of freedom but his morals are totally different. Lokak sees Primonk as sort of a kindred spirit so he does everything in his power to try and corrupt Primonk and claim his soul. Lokak also has a bit of a rivalry with Emperor Dominus, since they're both 2 of the most powerful and feared evil forces on the planet but are also total opposites. Many would make deals with Lokak due to their fear of Dominus and the Pride as a whole, but at the same time people will ally themselves with Dominus and the Pride due to their fear of Lokak and his Crew of the Damned. Dominus views Lokak as a disgusting creature who represents why Dominus needs to control everything, while Lokak is more self aware and realizes that him and Dominus are 2 sides of the same coin and finds a bit of humor in the whole thing.

Lokak is heavily influenced by the supernatural villains from Pirates of the Caribbean such as Barbossa and especially Davy Jones (the biggest influence), honestly Davy Jones is probably one of my favorite movie villains so when I decided to make a pirate villain I knew I wanted to have a Davy Jones like character in it. The hard part with creating Lokak is coming up sort of Davy Jones like character but still making him his own thing, I think I came to a pretty cool idea with Lokak being like a fusion of a rotting corpse and a lovecraftian monster. Especially with him having tentacles that wrap around his skeleton arms like muscles. The other big influence is Batman's nemesis the Joker, with his more chaotic trouble making attitude and twisted sense of humor, as well his vauge and mysterious past. I felt a chaotic personality would work well as a foil to Primonk, basically a corruption of his ideals, which is why I made Lokak a primate type creature so he's essentially a more 'rotten' version of Primonk.
