Description
Another villain for my original Series Pirates of the Foggy Waters. This is Patchy the Bear, an evil living teddy bear. He commands a crew full of evil living toys, and they all live on 'The Island of Lost Things', an island full of trash from another world that wound up there. The island's mysterious magic has also brought any toys that wind up there to life.

Patchy is an arrogant bombastic jerk who likes to cause trouble. He views himself as the coolest, toughest, and most badass pirate to have ever sailed the seas (or is at least desperate to appear as so). Though his ego does have a tendency to get the best of him and get him into trouble. He has the mindset of a middleschool bully, often acting like a delinquent who wants to appear edgy and is a major metal head (basically the kind of person who'd pull pranks and toss eggs and toilet paper at people's houses). But deepdown he's really insecure, feeling a bit ashamed of his nature as a cutesy teddy bear so does everything he can to 'not' appear as cute, to the point that he'd murder anyone who says he's cute (unless of course you're a girl he's trying to impress).

Patchy was once an ordinary teddy bear who was the favorite toy of a human child, until one day the child was being bullied by their peers for carrying around cutesy teddy bear. So blaming Patchy for the bullying, the child threw him away which led to Patchy winding up in the Foggy World on the Island of Lost Things. Remembering his past as a toy, Patchy became determined to prove that he's more than just some cutesy teddy bear by becoming one of the most notorious pirates in the world. He has a massive grudge against Primonk, wanting to prove himself superior to Primonk in just about anyway possible.

Patchy is meant to be a sort of comic relief villain, basically a role similar to Buggy the Clown in One Piece. So when trying to come up with a comedic villain I decided to look to comedic icon from my youth, Strong Bad. Yeah Patchy is essentially my own expy of Strong Bad, basically a what if Strong Bad was a pirate captain sort of deal. Initially I was going to be more blatant and have the character be a masked wrestler type, until I got thinking about what species he'd be. I decided to research animals associated with wrestling, then found out about Bear Wrestling. So I decided to make the character a bear, so because of him being a Strong Bad expy I figured that the character should be short, like about Primonk's height. Figured he might have had a Napoleon complex or something. Then the idea of a bear that short made me think about teddy bears, then it gave me the idea to just make him a teddy bear outright. At that point I just completely dropped whole wrestling angle in favor of the toy theme direction that the teddy bear stuff would come with since I felt that the concpet of a pirate crew comprised of living toys had more potential.

For Patchy's design, I knew that I wanted to give him a sort of eye patch that's sewn on and cover him in stitches. To give him that sort of worn out old toy look, I also made him pink to emphasize his past as a cutesy teddy bear (plus to make him stand out more from Primonk, can't just have 2 brown furred characters fighting each other). I also gave him bits and pieces of other toys to give him a toy based frankenstein look. In place of his right hand is a claw in the vein of those toy grabby claw things, and his left leg is made of legos. He also has a bear trap in his mouth like a pair of dentures.
