Making the cannons look like bony growths is a nice touch

Man, all your pokemon are so cool, particularly this one. Great job. I love the visual combinations of real-life animal artifacts you use.

Awsome work Josh! I love the photo bashing and the rendering. Gorgeous water works! Love the little droplets falling off him.
Just one suggestion. To make pokes, which should look large , larger, you should place the camera, slightly lower and looking up. Also, play around more with the depth of field on the model itself, not just the background.
For example Blastoise may be huge enough that his tail should be blurred more by the depth of field (since it is further into the background).
Also if there is a perspective slider, on whatever you are using to render, you should turn it up a bit more to make him look like he's slightly overwhelming the frame and is so large that there is a tiny bit of lens distortion.
Another awesome trick i learned from Arvalis is 'eyes'. Bigger the creature, generally speaking, the smaller the eyes are proportionally.
Just some constructive feedback. Take it how you will . Your work is awesome and keep it up!

I really like how the water is just kind of sploshing out of the cannons.

Cannons are somewhat similar to jet propulsion system of the cephalopods.

Absolutely fantastic. But how would the cannons work as biological body parts? I can't recall how you explained it in Evo.

Their water bladders are kept in their shell anyway and when they grow into Blatoises they grow large tubes made of a substance like Ivory within their shell, these tubes lead to their water bladders creating an alternative place for the water to shoot from, rather than their mouths.
Blastoise (as they are bigger and stronger) can store gallons of water in their bladder and can build up quite a considerable amount of pressure.
When the Blastoise is about to fire, a latched piece of its shell controlled by muscles etc will lift up and the tubes will extend out of it

Why can't they be metal? I mean, some Pokémon are living, breathing, ambulatory hunks of it.

It was just a style choice, Blastoise isnt a steel type, and though essentially it could have elements of that I just liked the ivory better, made it feel more natural
