...in this tutorial series, i will show you how i made a low poly character...the programs will be Blender 3d,Photoshop cs3, and Paint tool sai...the character will W of RWBY...fanart while doing tutorial...oho 2 birds with one stone.......part 2 will most likely show how i model the base body...feel free to comment for suggestions/reactions...reference sheet here

when I tried to open up the image there was no image even thought the background image was checked off. What happened? I'm kind of stumped.

hmm..
the background image is suppose to be checked...
and enter orthographic view...background images don't usually appear in perspective view...(num 5 to toggle orthographic/perspective view)...
num 1 =front view | ctrl + num1 = back viewΒ
num 3 =side view | ctrl + num3 = other sideΒ
num 7 =top view | ctrl + num7 = bottom
you can also edit where the image will appear(all view,front,left,top,etc...) by using the 'axis' dropdown/combobox...
