Recently finished up a fully sized poster for a dear friend to hang on his wall (24 inches wide by 36) and THAT damned near killed me. Yet, regardless, I still find myself sitting here staring at this and (in -spite- of knowing it would be the end of me) wondering...
What if...?
What IS is about a massive empty canvas that drives us to insanity?? I've had trouble painting -anything- of a reasonable (read -smallish-) size ever since. It's bizarre.
Nevertheless, you've certainly done her justice. The theme is a favorite of mine (I have a thing for draped cloth or the draped human figure) and I'm positive she'll adore it at least as much as I do

As for big blank canvases, I'm not sure, but I do belive its not just us, and fancey pants art gallery you go to has walls of works much bigger again, and I'm pretty sure the artists do it because they can.
