Description
So I got asked to make a tutorial for this, and since its my first one, I hope I covered everything. This method obviously works with other things besides skirts too.
If you need any help, feel free to note me or comment.

Programs used: SAI, MS Paint because SAI is dumb with text and PMX editor ver 1.0.0
You don't know how much it hurt to have to fuck up a model just to do this.

Well nothing is showing up. I'm not going to keep clicking links. Submit to sta.sh or figure it out yourself.

is fixing the physic violates the no editing rule?
a very noob on MMD here... T_TΒ

It shouldn't. Most modelers and editors allow minor edits to be made as long as they stay private. Send them a message if you're unsure!

For me even though it has physics it's still clipping

And what do you do when you've already pressed all the right check boxes on everything, and it STILL slides through the skirt?

K-Channnn In reply to Key-and-WolfStar-SCA [2016-08-24 15:27:33 +0000 UTC]
At that point I would make the physics on whatever area of the body( say the legs) thicker

k, thanks. All you ever find for help in tutorials is the same "click the box" suggestion, but I had tried that ages ago, and it's still not fixed. I was wondering if it was maybe the slits between the panels, but I looked at the model you used in the tutorial, and it has slits between panels as well... If making the static physics bigger doesn't work, really the only other thing I can think of would be perhaps the poly count is too low? Would a leg or something be able to slip through if the verticies are too far apart? I'm not really sure...

I don't believe that would happen, or, I haven't happen to me at least. Could try making the skirt physics wider to cover the slits

Why 7 tho???? I don't really really get the non collision group
π: 0 β©: 1
K-Channnn In reply to MiyukiKudo [2016-07-19 14:44:03 +0000 UTC]
Seven is just the one I chose, you can use any one you want as long as it isn't the same group as the body physics. Different groups won't touch different groups unless you tell them to by checking the box.
For instance if my model has a base with body physics in group 1, with box 1 checked, and a skirt that also has the same configuration, the skirt will go through the legs like they aren't even there.
But if I set the skirt physics to be in group 2, box 2 checked, the skirt won't go through the legs.
These configurations can change depending on what you add like hair and so on. (You might not want hair and the body to have the same group, and if you change the hair, it won't go into the body).
I hope I'm explaining this okay, if not I'm really sorry

Since you're using PMX Editor and I just got it, do you know what the soft bodies on that last tab are?

K-Channnn In reply to Nintendraw [2016-07-02 17:55:42 +0000 UTC]
I've honestly haven't a clue, nor seen a model with anything in there

Ditto. I wonder if adding them would make older PM_ Editors/MMDs crash.
Oh well XD

I know I just commented, but I wanted to say thank you for this. The legs still sort of go through the skirt, but I think it's because of her calves. The skirt is short, not long though. I wonder how I could fix that...

would you be able to try fixing the skirt physics on this model for me? I know I shouldn't be asking someone else to do my work, but I don't know what else to do anymore! I've tried almost every tutorial on the internet, and yet the legs STILL CLIPP NO MATTER WHAT I FUCKING DO.
D:<
if you have time to help note me and I'll send it to you.
