Thanks, once upon a time this was a card image for a kaiju gaming set, but I don't work for the jerks involved with that anymore. Still happy with the picture.

Very nice work on Fire Rodan, too bad the puppet used to portray him in the film was so awful lol (though I do like the idea of a red hued, fire breathing Rodan...hey, if Mothra gets eye beams its only fair lol)

Yeah, I appreciate Toho for trying to up the ante with their special effects, but Rodan was a little hard to manage as a puppet. Still, I've gotta give 'em credit, the fight scenes with the big bird were pretty fantastic.

When it comes to Fire Rodan, people are usually giving him crap on his animatronics. But like Bill said, it didn't really bother me.

There were animatronics on Fire Rodan?

Oh yeah. He definitely wasn't a guy in a suit. Way too small.

Oh, well that's interesting. I did not know that.
But Fire Rodan is the only version of Rodan that has a beam attack, so that's something cool about him

Indeed. (about his uranium beam)
Have you seen the Heisei Mechagodzilla film?

It was uranium?
Of course, I owned the Sony release DVD and I liked a lot because when I was younger, I did not know that there was another Mechagodzilla movie, my first exposure to MechaG was through "Against MechaG" and "Terror of MechaG," so it was a surprise when I discovered this movie

That's its official name. Go to Toho Kingdom man, it will give you some cool stats on the kaiju in their films.
Oh, that's a cool personal backstory. It's my absolute fave of the Heisei series, bar none. I'm just surprised you couldn't tell he was a prop, rather than a guy in a suit.

Okay but how is it uranium?
I really didn't considering the Showa and Millennium Rodan were guys in suits, I thought the Heisei one was too

Would have something to do with the radiation that mutated him, I figure.
Oh, it was quite obvious that Showa and Millennium Rody were guys in suits, especially since they were the same size as Godzilla.

Wish we could ask the experts.
Oh no. Not even close. In fact, he's criticized for being much smaller than other Rodans.

After all, we must ask, why are Ghidorah's beams called gravity beams?
And I don't mind at all, because Pterodactyls/Pteranodons were much smaller than dinosaurs anyway. But, if he was like Quetzalcoatlus....

Neither do I, fully. Think it might have to do with his powers of flight as well.
Son of a Bitch.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
T-R-E-V In reply to JeditheSciFiFreak [2015-01-30 04:12:37 +0000 UTC]
Well yeah, because he's defying gravity when he's flying. He's technically way too big to be flying otherwise.
It's another saying. I'm basically saying Quetzalcoatlus is a VERY BIG pterosaur.

Even then, KG is MASSIVE, so he certainly needs some otherworldly ability to help him get to and fro. What this has to do with his energy weapons, well, requires a little more research on my part.
Yes Sir. Showa and Millennium Rodan are more like Quetzal in that regard.

Maybe this might make a good topic on Sci-Fi Dragon Talks
Well Heisei is, but Millennium isn't?

T-R-E-V In reply to JeditheSciFiFreak [2015-01-30 04:49:12 +0000 UTC]
Why KG's energy weapons are called gravity beams?
Heisei, size and design-wise, is definitely pteranodon/pterodactyl inspired. Showa and Millennium are far larger, more so cuz they're kaiju, more than anything.

Yeah it would be a good topic. You're sure to get some answers from more knowledgeable G-fans.
But, to get back on topic, I know Fire Rodan is an animatronic prop and not a guy in a suit because of two reasons:
1. The design doesn't allow for a guy in a suit to portray it. (Too small, most importantly)
2. I've seen behind-the-scenes of the prop being used on the set of the movie.

Yeah, I'm hoping that during my time as a content creator on YT, that I actually make some new friends along the way and
learn from meeting these people, to better my videos and channel
Okay, well I don't see a problem with the animatronics myself
