You gave him a lot of character. If I'm not mistaken, the Rodan in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II was still a juvenile. So you can think of the enlarged beak as a feature of an adult Heisei rodan.

I'm picking up a general 'Fire Rodan' vibe from this close-up; while that Heisei-era revamp certainly had a vicious-looking mug, in practice it struck me as (a) a bit too tiny for proper scrapping with Godzilla & MG and (b) lacking in grappling flexibility, what with the flapping-prop effect employed. That noted, this rugged, moderately-crooked bill looks just fine for putting someone's eye(s) out or pecking a divot in their skull. As for the secondary details, interesting nostril placement & tiny secondary horn-pair. Toss in a vaguely Showa-derived body plan with some decent talons, and I'd call this fella ready to rock.

The smaller beak definitely make Rodan look cuter, but otherwise, yes, it does seem ill equipped for damage dealing. The more I look at mine though the more I feel like I made him look like a buzzard XD.

Heh, the buzzard look actually fits post-Showa Rodan as well as anything, and seems a bit more apt than lending him an eagle/hawk-style bill. Hard to beat the original feature film, though-that mug had a solid blend of pseudo-pterosaur trappings & malevolent personality.

I think this is a pretty good Rodan redesign. I actually prefer this over the actual Fire Rodan.
