I'm liking the new design more and more. At first I was thrown back by the smaller eyes, but I've been thinking they might be aiming to give Gojira a bigger range of expressions. Time will say, but for now count me in for the return of the King of Monsters.

Thet little circular area at the hinge of the jaw reminds me of Zilla a bit. It looks reptilian.Β

I like the new look, but I like your sketch even better.Β Goji's teeth in the poster are two small for my taste.Β IMHO, goji needs to be designed as if he fights giant monsters and not people.Β Those teeth are just to small for that.Β That is why I like yours better, the teeth seem a bit more realistic.Β Great work as always Matt.

I honestly love the way this looks, it makes a lot of sense.Β And if this is the Showa Godzilla powered up and grown bigger, then the more friendly look to him could be because that Godzilla had become a hero after he abandoned his villainous ways.Β I think I'll stop mentioning Yoshimitsu Banno now before that gets beaten into the ground, but he is part of the project still last I recall.Β He could very well have had a lot of say in Godzilla's design, including the trademark lack of ears the Showa Godzilla is known for.Β As I've said, I could be entirely wrong about that, but given what we know, and what we've just seen...Β Let's keep our ears listening, and our eyes peeled.Β I honestly would not be surprised if this turns out to be some sort of sequel to Godzilla vs. Hedorah.Β But who knows?

So other than the question of Β which reincarnation of the King of the Monsters this is, the design really shows both a revamp of the old to new, yet simultaneously shows that the Gojira has aged, and therefore shows that he is not entirely immortal... Just near-impossible to kill; emphasis on impossible. Which I have to say is a nice touch to the aging bio-WMD.

It's entirely possible that this is the Showa Godzilla given a huge boost in size thanks to modern nuclear energy.Β I mean, Yoshimitsu Banno is still on the project last I checked, and he was the director of Godzilla vs. Hedorah, and he's always wanted to make a sequel to that film.Β Given the design, and it's more friendly appearance, as well as the fact he lacks ears exactly the way he did from King Kong vs. Godzilla to Terror of MechaGodzilla...Β I'm not saying this is so, but you have to wonder...
