Description Its been a while since I made any Star Trek Movie display animations. I was fishing for some panel interface ideas, and happened upon an un-official Fwd Nav Scan design, and decided to animate it. Fairly straightforward on the 3D starfield, like the Sector Scan animation, just with some layer tweaks to make it easier.

Apologies to whomever designed it originally, I do not have your name to credit. Feel free to comment and I will be more than happy to correct this oversight.

I would love to see anything I create on an on-screen project. By the way, is Potemkin shown on YouTube or somewhere else?

Our YouTube channel is: [link]

I will be planning on using your animations in our upcoming episodes. Bear in mind that it's literally a year and a half from the time that we shoot them to the time that they're released. The VFX take the longest part of our process.

But we're excited by this news, and I'm really looking forward to the graphics!

I'm still planning on working out the wall panels as well, not only the pre-LCARS control panel designs, but a sort of official layout to the wall screen displays as well. Some alternate, but many show the same display consistently. But then... that little attention defecit problem I got, I keep jumping around between multiple projects

it would be nicer if the numerals are somewhat factual like parallax, light-year distance, real-space coordinate, star date, and paradoxical effects...by the way what is 7100.3 for? anyway its good to see it.

the numbers just seem to be a standard status display type. By the time of Generations (when every display on the bridge was animated, not half backlit, they all seemed to have the same numbers on the bottom. I Believe this is simply because the production designers didn't feel it was necessary to make the effort of changing number schemes for each panel, since nobody could really read them on screen anyway. Best to just recycle the same number rows to save time and budget (the Enterprise B bridge was only seen for the first 15-20 minutes of the movie anyway).

I had also intended to have sector numbers on the passing grid, but I was growing impatient, and had to post something.

As for the 7100.3.... I have no idea. It was already on the graphic I used as reference. I believe every animated display (at least on Final Frontier and Undiscovered Country) was numbered based on the act and scene of the movie it was seen in. Much like the the Stardate, on any TNG episode.

just a suggestion I hope you're not mad at me. i said it because I want your work to be realistic in terms of navigation interface,i was inspired to look at Neon Genesis Evangelion computer interface since the Gainax doesn't even cared if viewers can read and understand the digits, numerals, code syntax or computer language but when I take some time to read it WOW! it looks like from a real computer imagine Gainax spend time to create text which is not needed to read...but still put it in the animation

Not mad, I don't get mad ^_^

I would love to make these as realistic as possible. My main goal was being as close to on-screen reference as possible (whether they were accurate or not). You know how some of these canon-obsessed freaks can be, lol

i'm thankful you're not. just to give you some ideas, maybe we can work together to create realistic interface not just navigation but others? is that a brilliant idea? we can exchange ideas...hehehe...i also use Macromedia Flash 8 also Maya, 3DSMax, Cinema 4D and XSI...i'm just concern about your work because I believed you still improved that! yes I believed!

by the way i'm from philippines.
