Description
Thanks for featuring this tutorial! It's a great honor---
Learn how to create a Flash game, step by step! Every line of code is explained so when this tutorial is over you've got the knowledge to create a complete game.
Please note that I always recommend buying a book for full instructions on Flash - this is merely a good start.

Well, RPG games are overall a little more complicated. If you never did any programming before I recommend using a tool like RMXP.

I always wanted to learn from the ground up, I've delved into the RGSS scripts that accompany it but I'd at least love to know how to code things like the basic movement and interacting with objects etc.

Yeah, well maybe start with a simpler game first. But don't let me dis encourage you! Go ahead and do what you like, just make sure you know where to start.

Hah, yeah this is great to figure out if you get stuff. Although this is pretty basic, it's still the basis of every language.

yeh xD, i should probably go out and buy/borrow some books (to impress my tutors with psuedo awesomeness ), but sadly my time (atleast that which isnt already designated procrastination time - almost all of it-) will be taken up by skyrim in a few days

I been doing a few games myself through my time on DA (Using Flash 5 with AS 1) but one thing I never tried out yet is to create an object through a .attachMovie call in-session. I felt this was a good learning tool though, and I followed the code-aspects well. Nicely done

You're welcome...
Actually, to brainstorm a little on the example-game you did here in the tutorial, wouldn't it be a good idea for the enemyship to, instead of being destroyed with contact with a bullet, it instead gets move back to the top of the screen with a new random .x cordinate.
This has 2 benefits.
First, it makes sure there's always an enemy on screen. In the example, if the enemy got shoot, you had to wait until the ticker got to 0 and a new was created. I call this in-game dead time.
Second, each time the ticker to create a new enemy got to 0 it would create a second enemy, having 2 enemys on screen at once. This will continue, spawning more enemies as time passes. It's probably a good idea to cap it around 8-10 or something.
This is just soemthing I created in my mind on the spot. What's your thoughts on it, would it work well?

Yeah that's a good idea, just wanted to make this sample very basic but I think using the knowledge learned from this tutorial you can probably make it like that.

The tutorials are very time consuming to make and because I'm starting my own company in January I probably don't have time to create any more tutorials
