Doom and Dain, everyone's favourite Resistance boys! Unless, for some reason you prefer Glock... or that other random guy whose name I forget...Anyway, this was lots of fun to draw. Might be my favourite deviation so far... Well, apart from that adorable Filli one, of course.
I had no idea what colours to put these guys in. I think the maroon worked for Doom but I think Dain would've looked nicer in a different colour. And I still need to find a way to give a believable texture to fabrics.
My favourite part of this whole image? Doom's hair. It just turned out so brilliant. I know that in the books he's supposed to have a beard of some kind as well but I just couldn't place one on his face well enough. That scar's pretty awesome too, I think.
Finally, I decided to put them in a cave because we all know how those Resistance boys love their caves. I made it nice and dark so Dain's pale skin would be more apparant.
Oh, and thanks to ~DarkestWish for helping me solve my background problem!
EDIT: I first had Dain here in a purpley colour but it didn't look quite right. I've now made what he's wearing black, and I think it's a wonderful improvement. Thanks to ~fey-janeward for the suggestion!

This is amazing. Good job. Doom looks awesome. He's my second favourite character(Barda's my favourite). In the anime Dain doesn't have a nose. XD It's so funny.

This is awesome! My has read the books and I saw some of the show(Darn show ruined the books for me >.<) Is Dain( I call him Danish,lol) as shape shiftier( I'v forgotten the work Emily Rodda uses) A levle 3 to be exact (Yay I'm so smart )

Well, the book says Doom has 'long, tangled black hair', so I tried to draw him like that. The other thing I thought of doing was putting his hair in a ponytail, but I thought that would've been even girlier...
And yeah, Glock's pretty awesome. He just bothered me in that first series. And I love that Jinks got what he deserved, too.

Wait, Doom's supposed to have a beard? Crap, I totally didn't remember that... I have a thing about scars, so my one complaint is that his isn't quite "this man is terrifying and probably couldn't properly smile if he wanted to" as I've always pictured it, but daaaamn he looks awesome even so.
...and Dain seriously needs to quit being so pretty, it's messing with my head. XD Like that he looks a bit Asian here - I'd always pictured Tora as being sort of Fantastic Medieval China. (Think of the movie "Hero". Coincidentally, the character Flying Snow from that film is basically my mental image of Queen Sharn... but wow I go on tangents don't I.) The purple is... a bit too associated with the anime for my tastes. Think he'd look good in dark shades of grey, but that's just me.

Yep. Good old beardy Doom. The book says: 'He was as tall as Barda, and as powerful, with long, tangled black hair and a shaggy black beard.' I only realised it when I started this picture and went hunting for a description of him.
Well, to be fair, it is my first time drawing Doom and my first time trying to draw a scar. I'll try to give him a better one next time, okay?
Pretty boy Dain... You know that's how he gets you, right? He lulls you into a false sense of security with that pretty-boy face of his... Dain's just always been asian in my mind, and I always imagine Doom to be kind of middle easterny.
I didn't know what colour to put Dain in at all. Purple looked the nicest out of the colours I tried, but yeah, it does kind of look like his anime costume. I don't think I tried grey, I might do that next time. Thanks!

It's probably redundant by now to tell you how much I love your artwork, seeing how many times I said it (written it?). Anyway, I love your artwork.
Their faces are perfect, especially Doom's, although that may be my I-think-Doom-is-a-badass bias presenting itself. His scar is subtle, yet immediately recognizable.
I agree with you, Doom's hair turned out brilliant.
I do know how those crazy Resistance boys love their caves. The perfect background.
Although, I must say, no way in hell is Dain my other favourite Resistance boy. Glock is a goddamn hero.

Thanks! I think MY I-think-Doom-is-a-badass bias came out while I was drawing them. Really, I think that's why Doom turned out better than Dain.
I imagine Doom's scar is a year or two old already, so I drew it more subtle to give the impression it had healed itself. And I tried to make his hair kind of wild and tangled... Like another certain green eyed person we know.
I was going to put a night sky behind them at first, but then when I thought about it they had to be in a cave. They just love those caves...
Glock annoyed me in that first series, but of course, you're right... In that one scene in series two, he was promoted to my second favourite Resistance boy. That's why I thought I had to add a line after saying Doom and Dain were the best two.

Hmmm.... okay, this is going to be kind of specific, but I think it's very Glock-ish.
In Cavern of the Fear, Glock and Jasmine go to the Os-Mine hills together. I always thought this was kind of weird and awkward, since Jasmine used to LOATHE Glock. And she does tell Lief that Glock forced her to go to the hills with him anyway. But clearly, as the book comes to a close, Glock and Jasmine are truly at peace with one another (especially since he saved her life, and even gives her his little pouch full of Jalis stuffs).
What I always thought about (like... for hours, literally 
I have a strong image of Glock sitting on a log or a stump or something by a fire, listening to Jasmine talk about her childhood or something. Jasmine doesn't even have to be in the picture at all, actually. Glock could be sitting, thinking about the journey ahead of him and how he will get to free his people and see Gers again, or perhaps he is thinking about the Tenna Birdsong Tales.
And I don't know if you've seen Glock in the anime, but I guess I don't picture him as retarded as they made him seem. I never pictured him having such hairy hands, either. O_o
Anyway, I guess it's up to you. I see Glock as a pensive, quiet guy who gets ticked off easily. A picture of him sitting and thinking, or comtemplating, or something would be really awesome. :3 It's just an idea, though~ Hopefully I was able to generate some kind of image in your head.

Yeah, I've always wondered about that too. It's kind of hard to picture Glock and Jasmine getting along, but they were together for a whole day or two before Lief and Barda showed up. And at the end he gives her his talisman... I wonder what happened on their journey that made him respect her that much.
And Glock is actually described as having 'huge, hairy hands' in the books. It also says he's short and heavily muscled, with powerful arms. The anime wasn't that far off... With his appearance, I mean. His character and personality was terrible!
I've never thought of drawing him peaceful/thoughtful before... Thanks! You've got me thinking of ideas now.
