this thing looks a little weird with the warp pylon layout...

The design of the warp pylons is from the Astrologer class light cruiser by etccommand here on Deviantart:

At first looks she appears to be a Federation class starship with the sensor pod used by the USS PhoenixΒ in The Wounded (which itself is based on AWACS) and with the pylon connections radically altered.Β

I'm glad it looks like all that and more.

Hello:
Β I'll be taking a closer look at the design but, while I know it's good (but practical), what I am really loving is it's job! .

Okay I absolutely love this ship!!!Β  The overall look and design, a different way of doing a classic Star Trek ship!

But I have to bring up the practicality of the design, namely in how the warp nasals are attached.... isn't that a little far for the warp plasma to travel?

MoWhat you said, I like the idea of the Feds FINALLY getting anti-cloacking ships. Kinda the Starfleet version of an Anti-Submarine Warfare vessel.

Yeah, but it would need just a few more Phasers and torpedo tubes to be a good anti-cloaking ship.Β  But then again this is the Federation.....

JeanLucCaptain In reply to AngelisGoodwen [2018-05-21 23:58:42 +0000 UTC]

well no it would work with a fleet as a AWACS type ship.

Yeah, that's how Star Fleet would use it.

Thank you.

With regard to the warp-plasma.
It depends on whose ideas of how the Warp Engines work you are using for your design.
I'm using Eric Kristiansen's Jackill's guide for a lot of the technical data since he based his work on Rich Sternbach, Michael Okuda, and the ILM crew that made the Paramount movie ships from the 1980s.Β  When you look at his designs, many of the single-engine and ships without secondary hulls have the warp-matrix, and matter-antimatter cores in the neck sections or "wings" of the ship.Β  In the case of the USS Pathfinder, the warp core is actually not in the secondary hull as that is consumed by deep-space sensor equipment, science labs, and other science-related equipment.Β  The warp-core of this ship is actually where the "wings" meet the "neck" down to the top of the secondary hull.

Eric's "Lynch" class light destroyer might help with showing the ideas I'm using.
