Description
OK, This isn't a tutorial on how to draw, it's basically explaining the layers on GIMP. So, this is a trade and I just took a screen shot every once in a while. This isn't a tutorial on how to draw THIS picture. It's just for the layers. Please, do not draw the same pose and everything, try to be original.

Nice tut . Do you use the path/pen tool for your lineart, or do you just draw it on?

I'm a bit confused: When i use the fill in tool after i out line the horse with the color, the muscle lines go away. How did you keep them? Because it's a pain the a** to draw them, color the horse, and re-draw them on the color layer.

Are your layers in order? The layer that you don't want anything to cover up has to be on top.

I have a small request ...Can you make a tutorial on how to be able to open up a file on Gimp and go over the lines then colour it without the colour and the background going over the lines?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
kokamo77 In reply to Galloping-nightmare [2009-08-02 01:23:13 +0000 UTC]
Well, to open something, first go to file then open. If it's in your pictures and you have a bunch of pictures, right click on what you want to draw over and click edit with GIMP. I'm sorry I don't follow you the rest What did you mean? Or did my tutorial not explain about lines?

I never thought to do the outline with color first. That's a really good idea, and it will save a lot of time!
Could you possibly do a tutorial on shading? You are really good at shading

Thanks! I might, but there is not much to shading. I might put shading in another tutorial later.

kokamo77 In reply to Animalluvr47 [2009-07-31 18:22:46 +0000 UTC]
There really isn't much to that, except practice. I never went by the rules with drawing horses. Like those circles and stuff. I just draw the rough outline kinda like I draw the lineart.
I have just drawn so many horses that I don't need that other stuff I guess
.... I'm used to it I guess
Sometimes I dream about drawing horses!
I practiced THAT much! And I'm still not completely happy with my art.

i dreamed about riding a few times, but not digital graphics.
i used circles for my traditional art, and after i didn't need them, stopped. But i've never used it for digital stuff.
