i wonder where can i get that masking fluid...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

louvis In reply to roxmarie [2010-11-30 17:38:07 +0000 UTC]

You can easily get it in shops with accesories for artists. They're sold in small bottles (75-100ml). It smells terribly .

(I heard somethere that some artists use latex glue instead of fluid - altough I'd suggest to use fluid, or at least try the glue on piece of paiting that won't be used anymore)

(I found on few forums information, that you may 'easily' make that fluid in home with latex gloves and ammonia- DO NOT! Ammonia is toxic, and that method does not work at all.)

SakiChiRocks In reply to louvis [2011-03-09 18:28:39 +0000 UTC]

I usually just use rubber cement when I do this technique. My mom bought a huge bottle one time for a project of hers and I've had it ever since

silverluna In reply to louvis [2010-11-30 23:09:05 +0000 UTC]

o.O Gloves and ammonia? They melt the gloves and mix it in the ammonia, or something? Seems to me someone just read the ingredients list and tried to combine similar stuff together, without any idea of what they were doing... There is ammonia in masking fluid, though; it's why it smells so bad (first time I smelled it, it burnt my nose).
