Description
Finally compiled enough photos to do a tutorial. Most of it is common knowledge but I hope it answers some questions. C:
If you have something you'd like to know in addition, feel free to ask them here and I'll try my best to answer.
p.s. I get asked a lot about masking fluid but no, I don't use it very often. None was used for these pictures.

I just started using gouache recently, and I thought it was a neat idea how you used it here instead of acrylic.

:') Acrylic dries a bit too hard and fast for me to use it accurately haha. orz

So would the best way to go about watercolors be... to just go for it and practice?
Also how expensive are the paints/etc. that you use?
Any brands you enjoy using the most?
π: 0 β©: 1
koyamori In reply to dragonmare [2011-12-30 18:37:39 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I think the best way to go is just to do it because then you can see how the paint works and how it can be manipulated in your own way.^^
I use a mix of Winsor Newton/ Holbein/ and also Graham paints. Depending on the colour, one brand might be better than the other. <:

Wow! I just happen to have bought a size 0 brush! I will definitely going to use it with this tutorial. A little question, can I replace gouache with a white poster color for the tiny flecks?
Hey, I've already done some practicing with the previous tut on negative painting. It's not really that impressive but I did spent some weeks on getting it right.
Feel free to have a look --> [link]

Thanks for the tutorial! It's really useful
I have a question: When you apply watercolour pencil do you use it wet or dry?
π: 0 β©: 1
koyamori In reply to xHappyRainbowPie [2011-11-22 15:47:51 +0000 UTC]
<: I'm happy to hear that!
When I apply the watercolour pencil, it is dry. When it's wet it is sort of clumpy. *A*
