Thx for explaining things. When you know what goes where and why, it makes it a whole lot easier to draw decently.

Is it wrong that I laughed at this?

Nope, it just means I met my goal. lol

I think a little humor makes things more engaging so they "stick" better.

What, not ten abs?! Darn. Seriously, I've seen it too and it does ruin things. I love this piece of nicely simplified anatomy of the second most important part of the male. I do have a very detailed book on anatomy but sometimes it's a bit overwhelming.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KrisCynical In reply to Gaspode5 [2011-08-11 08:39:42 +0000 UTC]

That's why I recommend Peck's book so much. While it has the very detailed graphics of textbook anatomy, the "artist sketch pages" after each section break all of the information down very nicely into visuals that are easy to remember and make perfect sense from an artistic standpoint.

If you're interested in studying anatomy (which I assume you are if you already have a book), you should seriously pick up a copy of this one. It's only $12 new and you can sometimes find it at second hand book stores for five bucks. [link]

Thanks for that very useful advice. I'll probably do that. The book I have, Anatomy For the Artist', is beautiful but sometimes a bit too detailed. I feel I might be well on the way to become a surgeon whilst browsing through it.

I have to wonder though, where does the eighth pack come exactly?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KrisCynical In reply to Shockand-Awe [2011-07-27 05:04:53 +0000 UTC]

The seventh and eighth abs are right below the normal six pack extending down toward the groin. They're pretty deep so they don't really show unless they are specifically targeted in weight training. They're the portion of the abs that is colored yellow in the diagram from the book I used at the top of the tutorial.

This was great, especially since I have a lot of trouble with male anatomy, having drawn nothing but girls for years. Nice and simple but definately useful and detailed. I'm not, however, sure what 'the line' is.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KrisCynical In reply to Elle-Oh-Elle [2011-07-05 04:19:53 +0000 UTC]

It's the natural crevice/crease in the male pelvis right above where the legs join the pelvis. You can see it on the full figure drawing in "The Line" section.
