Wow out of all the tutorials I've found on kanzashi yours is one of the best. I've tried making a few but I find when I do the falls with hot glue the back of them look kinda messy and unappealing. How do you keep it looking so neat?

Wonderful! Wonderful! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge.
I have to admire your patience to make such beautiful pieces of work.
I saw your latest piece absolutely gorgeous!
Have you used different material to make the kanzashi before?

Kurokami-Kanzashi In reply to calambmity [2009-02-17 17:27:43 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! Yep, I've used quite a few different materials for making kanzashi. I mostly use polyester lining fabric now just because it's really easy to find a good variety of colours quickly and cost effectively.

Thank you So Much. I love these things and I have always wanted to know how to make them as I can never find them even at Little Tokyo in So Cal. And now I know the name of them too. Thank you thank you thank you! Oh can I ask what is the best kind of glue? (tacky, fabric, something else?)

Kurokami-Kanzashi In reply to MasterInnaBathory [2008-11-05 04:18:34 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! Traditionally rice glue is used, however, I use plain hot glue for them.

In your tutorial you use a ruler and scissors, have you tried using a rotary cutter and grid board, I use it for my kanzashi, ( though they don't look as nice as yours) and its much easier than measuring then cutting, you just lay your ruler on the board and cut along it, i can make 100 squares in just a few minutes. Just a suggestion!
