Description
180 degree, north to south panoramic photo of the base of a supercell thunderstorm in western Oklahoma. In this photo, you can see more of the counter clockwise 'hook echo' or circulation of a wall cloud. The distinct lowering can be seen peaking out from behind the column of rain. I am really pleased with how these shots turned out and the color really is amazing. On one side there are the warm highlights from the sunset and on the other side are the cool colors cast in the shadow of the strengthening storm. There is probably some science associated with this, but my parents and their parents before them have always said, "that if the clouds appear greenish in tint, there is hail on its way!" And let me tell you that this is definitely true with this storm! You can see some of the aqua green in some of the clouds on the left half of the picture. Here are other pictures of the same storm: [link] & [link]

Stunning shot.
Silly question, but was this handheld or on a tripod?

Thanks! I actually shot this handheld and visually kept track of my overlap areas for the photo stitching. Surprisingly, I only shoot panoramic images from a tripod very rarely since the sunlight and weather changes so fast and I'm usually on the move.
