Description
Oklahoma - 5/19/2010 (near Kingfisher, OK)At this point, we were catching up with the thunderstorm after stopping briefly north of Watonga, OK for photographs ([link] ). We were pretty close to the back outer edge of the cloud cover shooting towards the east and the wall cloud under the base of the storm. It didn't take long when we wrapped up shooting at this location before we were able to catch back up almost parallel to the heavier rotation. This particular day and storm structure was by far our best of the spring storm season.

hahaha! Well, at least you were able to be on numerous other incredible storms during the season! I'm jealous of you! Hopefully one day, I'll have an opportunity to go further than in state and Texas Panhandle. The storms further up north look pretty intense!

Don't be jealous! I was only out 10 days with COD then a total of 3 days with my friends. I didn't get to chase as much as I would have liked, but hopefully next year things will be a little more stable and I'll be able to get out of the Chicagoland area and head west for more than just a week and a half.
But I do have to say, the storms up north are pretty damn intense! Once you get the CAPE values high enough there, things tend to get quite explosive. I wouldn't mind chasing the Dakotas again, even Nebraska was pretty gorgeous. We shall see!
You, on the other hand... I'm jealous! Living in Oklahoma is a dream of mine, and I was accepted to OU last year, but I couldn't go because a) funds were low and b) I'm still trying to get my business up off the ground. Maybe in a couple of years I'll get that opportunity.

Thank you! I've taken some single picture captures, but the multiple shot pano's really seem to capture the magnitude of what is going on.

not a problem! This particular picture is a panoramic photo comprised of 12 vertical pictures aligned together to form the larger picture. I referred to the single pictures as what you'd typically consider a standard photo. I make my own language sometimes...sorry!

Wow, that's an incredible dramatic sky! I also like how while you're underneath the base of one storm, you can see the top of the anvil of another distant storm. Great shot!

Thank ya sir! It was our best day for photography during the season. I need to upload some of my other shots from the day. They don't look as good since they were more shot on the fly and through the windshield/window of our vehicle. One of them was just to the left of the road and they clouds are starting to spiral like a large drain. It ended up passing directly over the top of us before we turned south and it began to tighten up into a funnel just before the downdraft of hail and rain engulfed it. I'm not for sure if it ever touched down but it was pretty wicked looking!
