Description
Western OklahomaSelf-reliance is alive and well through many parts of this country and dead in many other areas. It is/was one of the characteristics that helped build this great nation and helped sparked innovation, competition, and creativity. People seem to be forgetting the pioneer spirit to overcome hardships by hard work and self-responsibility and rely on themselves to achieve their goals and not wait on handouts or ruling bodies to provide everything from the cradle to the grave.
The windmill in this picture reminds me of the pioneer spirit, that brought us the creation and innovation to harness our surroundings to increase the quality of life through hard work, self-responsibility, and self-reliance.

Nice backlighting and really dramatic with the rays of the sun coming through the clouds. One of the finer Aeromotor shots I've seen.

This is positively lovely! It is so serene and peaceful. If I could step into this photo, I know exactly what I would do. A feeling I don't get with many photos. Personally? I'd sit down, Indian style, and watch the clouds pass overhead, the streams of light warming the earth below. Contemplate some deep, meaningful question! A fantastic shot from a phenomenal photographer!

It definitely helps with the notion of finding a place away from the hustle of civilization...

Thank you! Sometimes I feel that this side of the story often gets buried throughout society...

I love the composition and the title. I come from a farming family, and we would not be here had my ancestors not displayed tremendous self reliance. We're going to need more of that if the economic climate continues to turn down. I hope that you will take the time to visit my gallery and check out some of my landscapes and skyscapes. I update it quite often. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! You have a great story and you are right, if people will just practice common sense and self responsibility so many of the problems we are subjected to would not exist.

Thank you and thanks for you thoughts! It's important to get the word out b/c our founding principles are slipping away!

Wow, very nice composition! The classic windmill accompanied by those beautiful rays... a common country scene, but rarely captured to this degree of accuracy. Love the natural colors

yeah-things are still a little drab in color around the country side. Spring time and greener surroundings should hopefully arrive soon.
