Description
Apparently, all of a sudden, .gif files are not allowed for tutorials. What the hell? Then make it possible to have preview images! -is mad now-I find myself again doing a tutorial.
Sorry, but this time it really isn't funny. x3; I genuinely want people to actually learn how to critique.
So, I hope that you enjoy it, and learn a thing or two about critique. ;D It helps to -cough- spread it around too.
Not enough thumbnail space!

Awesome! This really helped me!
Do artists really appreciated it when you say 'you're welcome' after a thankyou? I never did it because I thought it would be weird....
It was funny, but infromative.

guilty as charged but alas I have reasons for doing so that may inlighten why other artist do it...
1) I leave short comments most of the time because I have THOASANDS of art I like to go through so I can't always type some super long comment that consists of more than "it's purty *favs*" sometims I sway to that but I hate when people just fav and leave. A comment is better then no comment.
2) some people can't critique well because they are A) quite young (Is it okay that I'm 14 on this site?) and there for don't really have a fancy critiqueing skills under their belt (Most people are in their "KAWAII KAWAII KAWAII!!!" faze at 14 so understand that some critque are from people way undpierenced then you)
3) It really is hard to think of bad things you want the artist to fix and not feel like you're getting on the artist's badside (I really never say mean things because I respect the artist to much (and I'm to much of a coward D: ) to say something even slightly negative) Plus some people who love art are really... slightly lacking in the art department themselves and it's hard to critique a artist you adore when you know that you yourself couldn't do something as good for however long you tried
*yawns* I think I looked to far into this (I've been in a argumentive mood today...) and I really do think this is funny/ enjoyed this, and I laughed (yesh i laughed hard X3) I just felt like pointing out reasons why some people do the annoying little comments X3 (I myself hate it when people go "Oh hes so adorable X3 *favs*" cause I'm left thinking, "What did they find adorable? What did they NOT say about it that they felt...") but I have truthfully left comments exactly like that it's... just hard to find the time and patience (Except for now where aparently I have LOADS of time ) anywho if you're still reading I'll put you out of this miserey and stop typing now
(It's hard for me to express opions on certain things over the internet without sounding overbearing T_T)
THIS IS LONG! O_O

There's a difference between leaving short comments and actually critiquing. ^^ Comments are perfectly welcome -- not everyone has time for critiquing!
14-years-old isn't too young; the actual youngest age allowed is 13. I can understand feeling too young to want to critique something... But anyone can critique.
I just understand you completely. XD

In such a case you might tell the artist, why you find a deviation simply cool. That would also be helpful feedback.

This makes so much sense.
I have nothing else to critique about this aside from it's ability to affectively tell the truth in an understandable manner.

heh great , now you need one for photos cus i got into some heated exchanges of opinions (wouldnt call it fights.. kinda) with photographers and models since if the picture isnt good is either the model that didnt do what she was told or the photographer's 'vision' bah.
anyhow ..... make more tutorials plz it wa funny and soo very true
peace

Nicely put together. I never critique anyone myself because it's none of my business, and I'd feel very uncomfortable getting that much into someone else's work; but if people do critique, they should definitely not be assholes about it.
I've seen some incredibly harsh critics on this site that aren't at all helpful; they just rant like madmen over a finger not being long enough or something silly like that. Luckily, I've managed to avoid most of the critics since being on this site. I seem mostly to encounter people who hate my nude drawings, and rather than avoid them and move on, they feel the need to tell me how disgusting I am.

ScottieAtLarge In reply to KyraShangea [2010-11-22 21:10:24 +0000 UTC]
I agree. If someone wants to critique, they should give their reasons while portraying good art. They shouldn't critique if they have bad art.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
KyraShangea In reply to ScottieAtLarge [2010-12-01 20:02:28 +0000 UTC]
Well, I agree and disagree with that. If someone is incapable of making art themselves, they still may have an eye to find what is wrong and what is well done. It's like someone who barely drives but knows the rules of the road.

ScottieAtLarge In reply to KyraShangea [2010-12-02 00:01:30 +0000 UTC]
I agree that what your saying is true, but I also think that a person's critique should be what he or she shows in their gallery. For example, if they critique someone's picture but have stick figures in their gallery, they are portraying themselves as hypocrites.
