Description
April 2022 - Revised Observations:Researchers stationed at the destroyed laboratory, who have been helping to keep an eye on things with permission of the guard Kitvoren there, have detected unusual spikes of radioactive energy in the immediate area. The first concern was that unaccounted materials deep within the underground lab's storage areas had somehow ignited, causing the release of more dangerous chemicals, but there were no readings that pointed to any sort of explosion. Kitvoren on site agreed to investigate, able to better navigate the broken down corridors and resist interference that often shut down automated drones before they could get very far. What they found was rather shocking, to say the least.
Through some means currently unknown to scientists (though hasty theorizing and testing is currently underway), the body of the Kitvoren from 1943 has become active once again. Fumes, though far less than before, have begun pouring out of the open neck; the eyes also appear to be glowing, reported the Kitvoren who were there to witness this unfold. It was originally believed that the energy had faded from this deceased Kitvoren as the initial fumes took 20 years to completely dissipate, but had indeed stopped. However, this new development has thrown researchers for a loop, causing them to question everything they knew about this species' biology and lifespan.
Beyond that, the body remains as it has been for the last few decades- partially decomposed and coated with a thick slime, unmoving and in the same spot where it died.
But now there is a most pressing question currently on the mind of the scientific community: if this is happening, then are Kitvoren even capable of death as we know it?
--------------
From the main lore timeline:
"The Kitvoren who's collar was deactivated took the route of the Kitvoren from 1930: it expelled all of its radioactive energy at once, causing a massive explosion that killed itself, injured the Kitvoren in cages nearest to it, and completely malfunctioned every other Kitvoren's collar, as well as all other electronics in the room- including the electrified barriers on the cages."
Being made of radioactive materials, Kitvoren as we know them took a long time to create- the prototypes were constantly unstable or mutated, and couldn't function as anything more than dying flesh. But even when the process was figured out and stabilized, Kitvoren still contained shocking amounts of condensed radiation in their bodies. This is what gives them their immense strength and accelerated healing.
But even though Kitvoren are genetically stable, they are able to summon this power at will in two forms. The first is a charged 'beam' of sorts, similar to Godzilla's atomic breath. This is controllable, though tiring, and so it isn't used much.
The second is much more violent as the Kitvoren is essentially willing its own body to rip itself into pieces. Not much is known about how this occurs, as it's only been documented twice (and the body was only recoverable once), but the aftermath is very severe. The Kitvoren has a literal meltdown as the radioactive energy in its body is released all at once; this results in a sticky, gooey layer over the entire body and parts of it (usually the legs and tail) start turning to mush. At the same time, the body mutates at incredible speed, allowing spikes and teeth to grow larger and twisted, and sprouting from different parts of the body. The 'skull' cracks and becomes hollow, forming two lights in the 'eyes'. The back of the neck splits open as well, spewing an extremely toxic smoke filled with visible glowing particles.
Because the Creators destroyed most evidence of the 1930 Decay incident, the only current specimen in existence is from the Kitvoren's escape in 1943. The glow and fumes took 20 years to completely stop, and were so toxic they destroyed all life within a 10 mile radius in only the first year (still causing negative effects within a 30 mile radius). Life only began to return 10 years later, and radiation levels at ground zero remained so high that even in 1982 (39 years after the incident) it was still unsafe for humans to enter the lab without protection.
It's theorized that the 1930 Kitvoren did not cause anywhere near the same amount of damage because its power-suppressing collar was still intact; as a researcher notes, they found no signs of malfunction after the incident. In the case of the 1943 Kitvoren however, the collar was non-functional, and so it becomes painfully obvious how lucky the Creators were to survive the 1930 incident as well as they did. It's speculated that the collars were so effective, the 1930 Kitvoren might not have even given off any residual radiation, as there were no notes about it.
Because of the nature of these incidents, modern researchers agree that the process of Kitvoren radioactive decay may be unpredictable and vary between specimens- but there is not enough evidence to back this up. Currently, there are expeditions from several competing countries that aim to find the remains of the 1930 Kitvoren, who's body was dumped into the ocean after the incident.
I love writing lore for these guys

d a n g,,
imagine a horror game based off the facility where kirtoven originated from? Having to survive rabid radioactive beasts, mutating like crazy after something like this happened- to the point of unrecognition,,

I'd love that tbh
Would be cool to play as one of the scientists and see their perspective during the situation (or as one of the kitvos hunting them down hhh)

Yes !!
Gosh, you can always do so much with spooky horror facilities n stuff, especially ones with constantly mutating monsters >

Yep! But it tires them out quite a bit so they'll rarely use it more than twice at a time, and need a lot of rest in between ^^

If the body were dumped in the ocean the radioactivity would have killed off any ocean/plantlife within a certain area, and if anything the ocean would have retaken the body as it's own.
Bones, is what I mean.
It would be bones and anyone searching for the 1930's Kit would find nothing of use.

That could be the case if this were a normal situation, but that Kitvo still had its collar and no radiation spikes were noted during or after the event. Since its body was dumped, theres no way to tell if radiation was released slower or at all- and if that is the only way for a Kitvo do die, maybe that means it wasn't dead in the first place? There's not enough past evidence to fall back on and that's why so many are after the body.
And of course, even if it were just bones, they'd still be quite valuable if another country found them and, say, decided to pick up the project where it left off

"Body"
HhhMMMMM
What skeletal structure do Kits have anyway? It says the projects were a mix of different animals, but they look like a fox/wolfish build.

I imagine for the skeleton it's mainly human-canine with small details of other animals. Like their arms, shoulders and hands are very human-like, but the back legs are mostly canine. The neck is very bird-like, and the teeth take after various carnivorous dinosaurs, especially their lack of molars
But I haven't thought too much beyond that about their structure and organs and things like that!

Hehe nice.
Now imagine putting all that together for real and it looks strange
