Hester started to catch on when she was younger since a lot of eager suitors began calling on the Purty Widowed Mrs. Jones and her mother wanted to look a lot more curvier and slimmer, plus she reads her mom's rather large collection of fashion magazines, so she knows what's fashionable. Precocious child!

Yeah; I actually remember doing a college essay on how some methods of beauty can be hazardous to your health. Coincidentally, I've included how there were some corests that were dangerous in ye olden days, because they'd cause difficulty breathing.

When I researched for this comic I found out a lot about the corsets used in the Victorian/Edwardian Era (the Wasp Waist looks so painful!
