This is by far your best one out of the whole series for sure! I really like the depth and perspective on this. The shadows you used really help with that. For some reason I also really like Cornelia's face. I'm still amazed that this was done at inks wow!

Wow!Β  Thank you!! Β  I wanted to try something different with the perspective since most of the others in the series are pretty straight-forward.Β  I wouldn't have thought I could do this with markers a month ago!Β  It helped playing around with them before jumping into MerMay full steam--the "Cornelia Through the Ages" pictures helped with figuring out different styles of using them and how to layer the colors.Β  I also just found out that my local Hobby Lobby carries both Prismacolor and Copic markers so I now have a way to replace any colors I used up (I'm guessing orange will be the first to go since I've been coloring a lot of Cornelia lol)!

Oh no Trenton! What happened?! (Loving the open wet Mr Darcy shirt btw ) I really like the way you've drawn their shadows on the sand here, it gives a wonderful 3D effect and Cornelia's distressed expression is perfectly angled.
I also like the way you've drawn the blood seeping into the water- great work-I am enjoying how this story is developing. Will you continue it into June despite the fact it's not Mer-May any more?

Pirates or mutineering crew...I haven't decided yet! lol

Thank you so much!Β  I was initially going to set this at night like the previous picture, but I started adding in the blue shadows and liked it too much so daytime it was!Β  She's been waiting a while to see if this guy will wake up or not...

Thanks!Β  I don't typically do lots of bloody pictures, so this was fun. Β  I'm thinking of playing around with the AU some more, but I'll be focusing more on finishing scripting Volume 2 and updating the comic again this month.

Oh wow that angle is not an easy one to pull off at all - people lying down like that can either look weird or successful! (there is no inbetween) but I love it, and I also love the way you used the limited colour palette for this series, using blue for the shadows.Β  Your back anatomy and Cornelia's hair is amazzzzing

Lots of thumbnails were involved!Β  I kept sweating over it too since I've seen plenty of Bird's Eye POV pictures done the wrong way and didn't want to add another to the heap!

Thank you!!Β  I remember my high school cinema instructor saying that outdoors shadows are always blue (when he was teaching us to white balance), so it's always stuck with me. Β  I cannot lie--I love drawing backs!

Sleyf In reply to LadyPep [2018-06-05 08:58:19 +0000 UTC]

It's wonderful! They actually do look like they've got physical weight obeying gravity and not just...you know...floating. Lol but the heap is pretty confy with all those other pictures padding it out.

That's kinda true...you never notice it until someone mentions it, and I heard that if the light source is a warm tone, the shadow will always be cool. That is one very majestic back (I like drawing necks lol) and forearms for some reason...)

LadyPep In reply to Sleyf [2018-06-06 18:01:56 +0000 UTC]

I immediately started noticing how shadows are different colors depending on lighting when I started making my own films and taking pictures, and then it carried over into my art.Β  It's not worth the time having to go in and edit all those photos/footage when you don't white balance! DXΒ  Having everything blown out outdoors is the worst since you can't really fix it!

Necks are fun to draw especially when the person is yelling--tendons and veins everywhere!

wow, really nice job! I like how you drew Cornelia's wet hair, and the blood oosing into the water.

This looks really good, I love Cornelia's pose. Looks really 3D.

Ooh look at her pretty little koi colors! ;3; Spotty-butt fish! :shot:
Poor Trenton XDDHe's fun to pick on, isn't he? Never can catch a brake, bro.

I love the perspective. ;3; Top-down views aren't easy at all- and with prismacolor c_x; omg I couldn't. Great job! ;3;

LadyPep In reply to Tigryph [2018-05-30 17:50:56 +0000 UTC]

I like it when they pop their heads out of the water and gape at you!

He's been through a lot of Character Abuse this month...I'm surprised I haven't gotten a restraining order from most of my characters! LOL

Thank you!!Β  I went through two thumbnail sketches before tackling it. Β  I've been trying to draw more forced perspective pictures for practice!

The prismacolors are actually pretty easy to use once you figure out how to layer them--you just have to color really fast or else the streaks will show up! O:

Tigryph In reply to LadyPep [2018-06-06 02:53:02 +0000 UTC]

Yes XDD ...and I'm that person putting my finger in the fish tank because I like when they nibble. XD

Poor man >_>;;; It's a good thing they can't do that. I think we'd both be put away for several lifetimes. XD

You're doing great ;3; You improve with every pic!

I had some colored pencils by them- I loved them but I am not...very talented with them. XD ONe day I'll practice them again!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyPep In reply to Tigryph [2018-06-06 18:07:48 +0000 UTC]

I tried doing that with my betta and scared him. lolΒ  I prefer it when you can see them nibbling you instead of being in murky lake water and feeling something trying to eat your toes! *SHUDDERS*

LOL!Β  True!

Thank you so much!!

Oh, me too!Β  I used to use colored pencils all the time but I whittle them away too fast (especially the black one), and markers tend to last longer and have richer colors...the switch was inevitable...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tigryph In reply to LadyPep [2018-06-19 15:42:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes exactly XDDDD I don't want to swim in murky water >_> There may be something worse than fish in there...

No problem! ;3;

Oh yeah XD; I always have pencil-eating sharpeners. I don't like coloring without a nice tip and half the time the tip falls right out! $3 pencil gets maybe two pics in... and Markers are so hard D8 I've never been able to get them right. Super kudos to you!

LadyPep In reply to Tigryph [2018-06-21 16:49:07 +0000 UTC]

I've watched LOTR and Harry Potter often enough to make me think of hands feeling for my toes *NOOoooooo*

Ugh!Β  Same here!Β  You always sharpen it just right and then the little lead pops off!Β  Playing around in watercolors helped me to understand markers more since it mainly involves layering.Β  I will say that watercolors and pencils smell A LOT better than markers though! LOL

Tigryph In reply to LadyPep [2018-06-28 20:12:51 +0000 UTC]

Om nom nom toes XD

Oh man yeah I can imagine. Unless we're talking those crack markers that smelled like...grapes and stuff from grade school. What kind of person...made a marker that encouraged kids to sniff them!?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyPep In reply to Tigryph [2018-06-28 22:46:59 +0000 UTC]

Haha!Β  My sister and I had a box of those Crayola ones!Β  We'd color the paper and sniff our drawings. XDΒ  When I first starting using white board markers as a kid I liked the smell, but if I used them too long they'd give me headaches so I try to use them in a well-aired room when I have to, like when I was studying for math tests in junior college and didn't want to waste paper...

Tigryph In reply to LadyPep [2018-07-04 06:19:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh man yes XDD I always found excuses to use purple because grape was always the best.

But...always make sure there's good air flow for those. Brown was the worst. c_x I learned not to do forests very quickly, I always felt woozy after those.

The only time I use dry erase markers are in my dad's classroom now--it's ventilated enough! lolΒ  Plus that huge whiteboard is just asking to be drawn on.
