Thank you si much! I haven't tried this yet because I'm such a terrified wuss, but I have a question. . .Should I be concerned of possibly putting fingerprints into the resin while forming it or not?

You have to push you finger hard in to the resin to be leaving prints in it But just be careful, the resin is hot! You won't be leaving prints in it if you are careful and light on the hand.

If I boil my dolls head, will I be able to reposition his nose a bit?
I really want him to have more of a tip-tilted nose. Do you think that could work or should I sand it instead?
π: 0 β©: 1
lajvio In reply to Musekun [2013-04-24 13:35:29 +0000 UTC]
You should be able to re-positioning the nose if you boil it yes. Just be careful

I've done the fingers on one doll
Now I'm steaming the other dolls head. C: the blue stain came out with a little arm work and now its time to get rid of that nose issue!
I'll let you know how it goes (:

Ah man sorry xD It turned out great, His nose popped right on out and is in the normal position, But the resin was like one layer down to where I could peal off resin. o _o... His faceup looks a bit more powder like now too. :I Oh well, I got the outcome I wanted C:

It looks liek the top layer of resin was broke off if this makes sense but the bottom layer popped right on through (:

I just bought a doll that has a "Shmush" in its nose? Not sure what it means xD He will be here in two days (: Do you think that if the resin were pushed down or flattened that steaming would help? He has a faceup as well. The faceup is about 5 yrs old so I'd like to preserve it x3

lajvio In reply to Jet-Stream-Jumper [2012-12-23 09:51:11 +0000 UTC]
When you say smuched, do you mean like, it fell and have been pushed in? In that case, yes, steaming would work Just hold the head over boiling water, in the steam, and the nose should pop back to it normal position
But be careful not to burn you self!
I hope it works!

Last night I did my bobobies hands x3 It wasn't too bad. But it was scary xD
The doll also has a blue stain on his head, from a wig and its pretty bad. Will steaming him make it worse or make it seep down into the resin more or something? Thanks c.c

lajvio In reply to Jet-Stream-Jumper [2012-12-23 20:50:35 +0000 UTC]
I would try to get the stain first, but if that is not possible, I don't really know i'm afraid =/ It could make the stain seep in more, are loosen it and make it easier to clean =/ I have no idea!

Well, you can try magic sponge/whiteboard eraser. It is pretty good with stains. acetone free nail polish remover is an other tip I have. And if nothing else work, sand the head.

One last thing
I'm hoping the Company faceup was sealed good, I knwo it probably is. He is a Cherishdoll from 09' I'm just worried about him being so old, is it just better to erase the faceup? I was really hoping to fix his dent and keep the faceup :c

Have you ever tried boiling a head with the face up still on? my boys nose has a deep dent and I am trying to only fix his nose with out touching his faceup 3
π: 0 β©: 1
lajvio In reply to The-Funerals [2012-11-10 00:16:20 +0000 UTC]
You don't boil a head with face up, you steam it I have not done it, but I have seen people do it. You take a pot of water and make it boil, then you hold the head in the steam over the pot. Be careful so you don't burn your self!! It should help with the dent if the dent is not to big
Then just let the head cool down. If the face up is sealed good, it should hold. Hope I could help!

What mold is your example doll?
Can this be done with all parts? What about heads that still have faceups?
π: 0 β©: 1
lajvio In reply to TheBebeGirl [2012-06-29 16:54:51 +0000 UTC]
I'm using a domuya venturo here.
You can boil every part yes, but I would not boil parts that is blushed. You can steam a blushed part, instead of putting the part in the water, you heat it over the boiling water, in the steam.

Sorry to bother you again, but could you point me to the Doyuma website? I can't seem to find it.

There is no domuya company anymore. They went bankrupt so they don't exist anymore.

Oh! That explains it. I acutally just wanted to see what their sculpts were like, becaause your doll reminded me ALOT of a girl I have that I prdered second hand, and was never told the company to. I tried asking that person, but they got her as a gift.

Nothing...except for some bad flashing on the inside where it wasn't bothered to be sanded down.

TheBebeGirl In reply to lajvio [2012-07-01 20:07:35 +0000 UTC]
*shakes head* I hot her in a box that was origiinally for one of those American Girl knock offs. She didn't come with anything but herself, eyes, some putty, a little note saying thanks for the purchase, and a crap load of packing peanuts. She was in fetal postion on her side because she barily fit...

So... there is no name inside the head or on the head cap? In that case... I'n so sorry to say, but your doll might be a illegal recast =/
π: 0 β©: 1
TheBebeGirl In reply to lajvio [2012-07-01 22:56:02 +0000 UTC]
Well, she's not one of the crappy ones that makes people sick, and /I/ didn't buy her direct from rip-off company, so I'm not overly worried about it. I'm just curious to know what mold she as taken off up reguardless and if I can hunt it down.
π: 0 β©: 1
lajvio In reply to TheBebeGirl [2012-07-02 08:33:09 +0000 UTC]
No, you might not boy her from a rip off company, but the person that sold it you might. There is a lot of fake dolls in the second hand market, and you can mostly tell it's a fake when you don't have any papers, the right box, or if the doll don't have any markings with company or mold in the head somewhere. I would say it's a fake one in that case. All companies I have heard of do mark their dolls.
