Thank you for the tutorial!
I have 2 questions....
Boiling the parts in water won't deform the resin?
I have a bjd that has a VERY small dent on the side of her leg a centimeter or so above the knee. Would it work if I just boil the surface of her leg instead of submerging the leg in boiling water?

How do you intend to just boil the surface? And no, it will not deform the shape, as you can see in the tutorial

I take the leg part and place only half of it (the side with the dent) in the water. Will that work as well?

Doesn't heat also affect resin colour, like light does?
Have you noticed any discoloration on the parts you boiled?

isnt it risky to boil a doll? wont it ruin it?

lajvio In reply to Gwendalin-Niles [2011-12-09 20:19:04 +0000 UTC]
No, not really. Since I have done it, and several other people have tested it. As long you don't leave it in the water for to long.

Wow this is incredible! My mind is blown! I'll remember this if I ever have a need for it! Can it be used to reshape noses and things too?

Fiarene-Art In reply to lajvio [2011-12-04 09:37:24 +0000 UTC]
I think I've heard of people boiling the head and then - I'm not sure if this is correct - but gently smoothing and reshaping the nose with their fingers while it is soft. Have you heard of this? Do you think it would be possible?

lajvio In reply to Fiarene-Art [2011-12-05 00:05:49 +0000 UTC]
That might work. It probably would. I have never done it But you should be able to make the nose pointier or so

Oh good God no! I could never do this! It takes too much courage!
Haha but seriously, I heard someone mention this at the BJD panel I went to at Sugoicon. They said it works and here it is again. Scary technique, but thanks for making a tutorial on it! You are a brave soul.

How long do you leave each part in for?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
lajvio In reply to sdrcow [2011-11-13 00:54:27 +0000 UTC]
Oh that depends... on the parts thickness I guess.
I had them in the water between 30 seconds to 3 minutes maybe.
