Description
WELP I tried to make a tutorial on crafting. I hope people understand my horrible English.I also hope it helps a bit. If you have any questions, I'll be sure to answer them the best I can!
Part Two will come in a few days! Still waiting for them to dry.

Would it be harder if I put wires in them? Or is it not worth the effort? Thank you for answering by the way!

I've tried a wire method but sometimes the model magic doesn't like it and tends to crack harder and deeper around it during the drying process. I may experiment with it more once I get a de-humidifier and if it somehow does work I'll be more than happy to share with people!

Hey. I was just wondering if you were going to continue these tutorials and do part 2? I went out and bought some Model Magic a few days after this came out and have made up to where this tutorial ends, but i'm not sure what to do next.
Are you thinking of making part 2, or should i just continue myself?

Where do you normally buy your headbands? is there a certain type that needs to be used or will just any work? I'm thinking about trying to make my Troll OC's horns for fun but their bulky and i'm afraid they may fall off XD

I used to buy them at target but they since then have discontinued selling them 8< So I buy them in bulk online but for model magic, the best kind of material to use [so I believe] is Polyester. The glue and model magic stick to that really well.

Hmm, if one is pressed for time, would using a hair dryer work for speeding up the drying process? Or would that just make the clay crack?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Lambentworld In reply to Insane-effigy [2011-07-14 04:24:52 +0000 UTC]
sadly it would make the clay crack ;3; if you're pressed for time you can try using the same method with baking clay[sculpey] using the same method then just baking it but they will be heavier and more likely to break if they fall. But yeah ;; I tried a blow dryer once and everything cracked really super badly.

Hello, I was wondering how you got the horns on the head band.

Lambentworld In reply to penisalotta [2011-07-14 04:25:56 +0000 UTC]
Carving out a small groove on the bottom of the horn so it fits on to the headband then super glue super glue super glue. Super glue them to the headband. Wait about an hour then add more. Build a strong base of glue between the headband and model magic and then leave it to harden for a day or a half and then it should be good.

Where do you think you'd possibly buy this material?
To construct the horns into their likely shape?
How would you attach the horns to the headbands?

Lambentworld In reply to choco-pudge [2011-07-12 02:34:16 +0000 UTC]
Arts and crafts stores like Micheal's or if not, maybe online? That's where I'd try if there were no Micheal's near by.
Usually just super glue, leaving them along for a day, then super gluing them some more for reinforcement on the headband.

You say an exacto knife - just any knife would work, right? Like a plastic or metal butter knife? Just making sure.

Lambentworld In reply to Witchneko [2011-07-07 07:19:37 +0000 UTC]
Yup! Anything with a straight blade can be used [so no steak knives unless you want to smooth the model magic 8<]. I usually use an exacto cause I have them around like butter knives for various projects.

How did you attach yours to your head? I didn't know if there was a specific type of glue and headband that would work better or hairclips. I'm not sure what would burn through the clay and what wouldn't.

It's best to use a headband and bobby pins to keep them on and steady.

And how much does a bin cost just curious?

Lambentworld In reply to auntslappy282 [2011-07-02 04:15:06 +0000 UTC]
About 20 bucks or higher that comes with a few packages of Model Magic in them. There are bigger bins but we usually get the small ones cause in the end it's more bang for our bucks.

Hunt down a craft store with coupons like Hobby Lobby or Micheals, they both hVE 40% off coupons ALL the time so it'll be like $13 instead of 20
