Description
Full view to see the movieThis video was taken during my first tattoo session over two years ago (february 14th 2003). What you see is 7 hours of tattooing condensed into 1:22 or so...
P.s. I do not recommend getting tattooed for 7 hours in one day... Whew...
She's finally finished!

I don't really have anything to compare it to... It was certainly bearable, but it hurt... Certain spots hurt more than others.

The itching wasn't so bad. No worse than some mosquito bites.

so was the artist charging you by the hour or......?

Yeah something like that... But I only had to pay for the first third of the piece. I traded some artwork for the rest. Thank goodness!

what is the name of the shop that you got that done at? props for a marathon tat job.

The guy who did it used to own stained skin in columbus ohio [link] but he recently sold the shop, and now has a private studio in his house... [link]
He does phenomenal work!

private studio huh? thats freakin awesome. dont mind me asking how much that tat was do ya? i want to start getting my back covered, so im trying to figure out a ball park estimate.

LaughingTree In reply to juggalofunk [2005-12-14 03:18:25 +0000 UTC]
Well I only had to pay for the first third of it... The rest was done for trade. I made him two lamps in exchange for the rest of it. I probably gave him around $1800 before that though... So it was pretty pricey! But it'll last me my lifetime... A worthwhile investment, I'd say.

damn skippy. hahaha. like i said im going to get some tribal. on my arms, shoulders connecting to my back. but your work is freakin sick dude, id rather trade for your work then trade any damn day.

Thanks man. Yeah, I noticed you favorited a few of my pieces. Haha!
I have a friend that's got a big tribal piece. OVer his arm/shoulder and part of his back. It's pretty sick. That should be muuuuuuuuuuch quicker though. So it won't cost nearly as much!

haha wow. so who took that video anyway? and do they always shoot video of the tattoos they do?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
LaughingTree In reply to IvoryDrive [2005-12-07 01:14:11 +0000 UTC]
I set up a camera on a tripod and it took ยฝ second of video ever 30 seconds. So 7 hours of tattooing down to 7 minutes. And I then condensed that into 1:20 or however long that song is. It was actually for a class project.

I think the line work looks amazing, and progression shots would have been cool too, but it is to late for that. I don't think I would ever get a tattoo that big. A series of small ones, yes. That's hardcore, major claps for you, sir.

oh wow, hahaha that was absolutely awesome! I would have loved to see a finished picture.. even if it's not actually finished yet, just to see a clear image of what was being done in this video.
I especially loved your choice of music, very entertaining piece!

Thanks.
Rest assured, it's coming up. I think I only have about 2 more sessions to go on this beast. I just don't want ot spoil the surprise before it's finished. You know?

Oh it's not quite finished yet... I still have about 2 or 3 more sessions to go. Eventually I'll be posting it up here.
Patience is key. I've been waiting almost 3 years now for this beast to be done!!!

It's a collaboration between myself and the artist. Final sketch is his though.

LaughingTree In reply to yogashmoga [2005-05-31 09:46:54 +0000 UTC]
Well, technically I only had to pay for the first half of it. The second half is a trade. I built my artist two lamps ("Spine lamps"on here) which made things much easier on me...
But yes, even still it's been quite a pretty penny...

My first tattoo that I got in December of 2004 took an hour, and its only 2 inches in area! damn, i would fall asleep in 7 hours of that..
You are truly honorable.

LaughingTree In reply to necromanza [2005-04-24 06:03:41 +0000 UTC]
Shoot... I wish I could fall asleep! I've come reaaaaaaaally close before, but never quite made it to fully falling asleep. That used to be my goal. To fall asleep while under the gun. I've pretty much given up on that htough. The closest I've come is falling asleep between getting more ink and tattooing. So a couple seconds... But I've never actually been able to sleep through getting tattooed, which is what I relaly wanted to do...

damn you're brave! my mom's gotten 4 tattoos and 8 piercings, but i don't think she'd do 7 hours straight! that's a really nice tattoo... but still... you're freaking brave.

Just had 5 more hours yesterday...

what a man! how many sheets did you sweat through
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
LaughingTree In reply to Legato895 [2005-03-29 09:00:38 +0000 UTC]
Haha. Yeah, I'm a sweater... Can't help it. The anxiety of it all. It's a full-body experience. Constantly tensing up... Although I've never actually made it all the way through one of those sheets.
Now a days, my sessions are only usually 4 hours which is much easier to handle. Not to mention we're completely done with teh linework... Thank goodness... becasue shading is muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch easier on the body. Linework hurts a whole lot more...

same here! i was cutting up my pc case for a mod with a dremel tool and when i turned it off for a breather i was sweaty in all sorts of places...
ANYWAY... yeah, great job. a nice big picture would be awesome

LaughingTree In reply to Legato895 [2005-03-30 06:50:45 +0000 UTC]
Sounds delightful. I have this mannequin that I wanted to mod into a computer case. It was going to be so slick. The drive bays would be on the side of the torso... Perhaps some day I'll actually get that guy going... Just don't have the time right now. Or the spare parts to work with getting it all to fit. And I don't really feel like ripping apart my current rig...
An expect a full size very detailed image of my back when it's finished...

LaughingTree In reply to swayback [2005-12-08 00:33:12 +0000 UTC]
Well 1 out of 2 ain't bad? The mannequin is no longer in my possession. I had to let him go when I moved out of Ohio. It was a sad day indeed... Perhaps some day in the future. Not anytime soon however...
The tattoo however, HAS been finished and has been posted for your viewing pleasure...

Don't so much have any nicknames... A lot of times people call me things... But that's not usually a good thing
I have one friend who calls me iL. But that's almost a business thing too. I call her Sa. We combine our names to make iLsa glassworks inc. But other than that, no... No real nicknames.
