Description This is Lemontea's Definitive Vector Guide Version 3.0.1. That title was a wee bit large for the title on DeviantART.

For all those who have never seen version 1 or 2, this the guide for Photoshop 7 - CS2. These are true vectors; they are not rasters. Deal with it if you don't like it, you purists, but Photoshop is a capable vector program. Props off to `voodoo-prophet , ^object2bdestroyd , *turp , ~fuzzynoise , and others who have supported me and helped me with vectors so many times.

I hope this allows everyone who wants to try their hand at this tutorial to get introduced to the wonderful world of vectors.

Have fun! This weighs in at about 910KB so you might want to make a sandwich or something if you're on 56k. I promise that this tutorial works if you can sit down and try it, and I suggest you do. I've seen so many great results and people that are now better than me because of trying my tutorial when they were first getting started. I can pick out "lemontea-styled" vectors from thumbnails in the vector galleries, and it's somewhat humbling.

INSTRUCTIONS
In order to use this tutorial, you must uncompress all of the files in the zip file to the same directory. WinZIP or the default WindowsXP compression agent will allow you to do this. To launch the actual tutorial, open the "index.html" file.

If there is a problem, feel free to access this guide on-line at [link]

- How to convert a Photoshop vector to EPS (and have it completely, 100% editable).
- Added a "Download" Link (although this was for the mirror of my site, I left it on there incase in some future time you wanted to download an updated version without opening DevianART or my website directly.)

What's New in 2.5:
Reference to color selection on an active vector layer.
Sets within sets for the Photoshop CS feature.
A new introduction.
Fixed 12 spelling and gramatical errors.

You CAN outline by stroking, it just won't be vector.

Uh, well, if you're following the guide exactly, you should be fine. I can't really tell where you went wrong.

And to make a new photo on a separate layer, just make a new layer and drag in the photo you want.

Ah, it appears you are in GIF mode (or a similar mode). Go to Image > Mode > RGB. That should make it work for you.

I noticed that the second page file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/David%20Bixler/Desktop/lemontea's%20difinitive%20vector%20guide/core.html#tips
of your guide is slighly errored. In the tutorial you are instructing the user to create two actions to simplify the zooming process for smooth vectoring. The second action, "Decrease by 400% (100%)" you instruct the user to use the Image resize dialogue to reduce the size of the image by 20% to restore it to it's original size, when in fact the user should reduce it to 25% since the image was zoomed to 400% of its original size.

I understand how anyone could get confused, I simply saw it and thought you might want to revise or rephrase this on your next edition. Other than that, awesome job. Looking forward to more from you.

It's actually been noted and already fixed. But an error that small, I just need more to update to make it a worthwhile update. So far that's the only thing... Eventually. Thanks for noticing however.

Well, these are some common steps you might want to go through:

1. Are you blind? If yes, you won't be able to see it. Perhaps you should consult a physician.
2. Try going here [link]

Love this tutorial, and I want to show it to someone on forums (for a game, [link] /kuforum), and I wanted to ask you if I could do so (post it). Can I? Please Please? It'd be a link to this page.

But the tutorial is very nice, seems like a lot of work was put in, kudos.

WHY WONT IT WORK?! T.T

I've downloaded and when I open the index.html file, clicking on any of the links just opens a 'CANNOT FIND THIS PAGE' error. Noooooooooo.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lemontea In reply to Kerosene-Dreams [2006-03-28 13:37:54 +0000 UTC]

Because, you have to extract ALL of the files. You can't just click on the index.html. It says this both in the readme and the deviation description.

I have been searching the web for a tutorial for vectors, all that I could find were so vague. Than I did a search here at deviant and wala! This must have taken a long time to put something like this together so I thank you so very much for taking the time to make this, for people like me it is extremely helpful.
