Description ‘In the heart of Transylvania,
In the Vampire Hall of Fame - yeah!
There's not a vampire zanier than… Duckula!’

I wonder how many people will remember this guy.

I was recently reminded of this show when someone posted a list of old 80’s cartoons in their online journal. The titles on the list brought back many memories long forgotten and I could just hit myself for forgetting about Count Duckula. I loved that show so much that I remember insisting to my parents that I wanted a Count Duckula plush. They hunted high and low and finally found one. A couple of years later, I ended up donating him to the school fate, not knowing how rare he would become. I had kept him in excellent condition too (darn, why was I so naïve at that age?!) Anyway, The story has a happy ending however. I was browsing eBay a couple of days ago and came across him again, in mint condition. So, naturally, I had to have him and in doing so, would like to think that I have claimed a part of my childhood back at the same time!

So here’s one of my childhood memories; possibly one of the best designed (and voiced) characters of all time, as well as the only vegetarian vampire you’re likely to come across!

Duckula's ending rocked! and I'm not surprised it was the only thing I could remember a while back, just red... red backgrounds.... *murrrr

Regarding what I do, I have been attending university for the past six years. This was my last year, studying for a degree in graphic design. I've never studied illustration, that has really been a spare time thing for me just because I enjoy it. Yesterday, I found out that I had graduated with full honours, so I guess I'm at that stage where I start considering my first full time job. I'm pretty lucky, in that I have a varied portfolio of design, illustrative and conceptual works, so I can pretty much turn to anything. As for my job, it's just a regular sorry student part time thing that I hardly care to mention, but when I do, I usually just refer to it as 'the dump' or 'the pits' (naaw, it's not really that bad, but it sure isn't artistic).

As for Disney, my ultimate dream since I was very young was to work for them as a story sketch artist or animator. Unfortunately, I don't like the way things look now, what with everyone turning to computer generated animation, however, I heard that Disney has a studio in west London and that they employ designers and illustrators. I've been considering writing to them, but who really knows what the future holds.... Bleh!

^_^* I think David Jason did the voice of Mr. Toad in the Wind and the Willows too, also by Cosgrove. He had an amazing laugh... 'heh heeeh heeeh heh!'

I think there a few Wind in the willows cartoons in the past so I don't really which one he was in also I wasn't a fan of Wind in the willows. He does do the voice of the BFG in the BFG film that film was ok but nowa days since I'm 17 I'm a bit old for most kiddy magical like films.

i always enjoy his Only fools and horses show, I even have the theme on PSP.

Oh, sorry, I meant the stop motion Wind in the Willows. The characters were made out of plastic. Interestingly, the BFG was also made by Cosgrove Hall. I guess they had a thing for David Jason!

Btw, ah yeah, Only Fools and Horses! There's not a person I know who doesn't like that show. 'Rodney you plonker!'

Inspector Gadget... Your picture was removed? Hmmm, perhaps they thought he was pretty weirded out already and that that would have been an overload. LOL!

Thank you and no worries over your picture. Issues like that only make us more determined, right?
Btw, I made him a little sharper than what he used to look like (especially in his hands), but he's a vampire afterall.

Heh heh... yeah, 'Nanny'. Always bumping into things and goofing up. The reason why Duckula turned out a vegetarian I think.
