So here it is. The culmination of my little project to design a more...primative first Warp 5 starship - an Alternate NX, if you will.Not a lot to say that won't be explained in these pics (which are huge, by the way, the biggest I've ever made, as my computer seems intent on reminding me.
Star Trek is not mine, it's Paramount's. This Endeavour is mine, however, and the blood sweat and tears that have gone into it will form the basis of the black magic spell with which I will make your life a living nightmare if you use any pictures of it without asking first. I say this in the spirit of friendship - and a desire not to have my pictures turn up on people's avatars unannounced.

Beautiful and MUCH more practical design for such a vessel. The explanations seem more feasible, and more likely to occur. Thank you for designing this ship. The impulse engine designs are definitely more robust, and the addition of the observatory, which I have wanted to see on ALL the ship designs in ST, was a stroke of genius, and in retrospect, absolutely necessary to the design. Have you considered designing, or re-designing, any of the interior spaces, bridge, engineering, quarters, companionways, shuttlebays, etc?

I'm at least sketching a lot of the internal space for the rebuild of this ship, currently in progress, with particular attention to the shuttle dock. Unfortunately that redesign so far does not have the observatory built in, removing it in favour of more explicit telescopes in the top and bottom sensor domes.

I like it a lot, the pod under the saucer is in my opinion nicer looking than putting the deflector on the saucer itself, real nice impulse drives tooΒ

Thank you - I never liked the cut out myself, though I'm not quite sure I could tell you why.
With the impulse engines, I was trying to go big and beefy, to make them look more clunky and a bit more Flash Gordan than refined Federation tech. In fact, I wanted her to evoke Golden age Sci Fi tech all through, to contract with the 60s aesthetics that Star Trek brought in to replace it.

Yeah I say it on Sci-fi Meshes this is going back about 12 months now. The poster had a 3d version and was doing other high poly versions of other ships in the same style. I don't know if he was claiming the design as his own or not, it was quite sometime back.
