Description
Dalek drone: Space-flight eraFollowing the failure of the Earth invasion, the Daleks developed an improved power-receptor system. Rather than being powered by central generators, each Dalek could now draw energy from its surroundings and store it in internal batteries. Their motivators were also augmented with psycho-kinetic amplifiers to allow for telekinetic movement in the event of total power loss.
----
I'm putting the 'Death to the Daleks' drones between The Invasion of Earth and Frontier in Space. There is logic behind this!
[EDIT: Fairly minor edits made while improving the model]
The Daleks were created by Terry Nation and built by Ray Cusick.

Is there a different Supreme Dalek for this era or does it share one with the Frontier era, or something?

Genuinely a question I haven't set myself to answer yet. There isn't a Dalek Supreme that I've tried to fit into this particular bit of Dalek history yet; in theory though, it would probably be based on the Black Dalek from the later Dalek Chronicle strips, since that's where I pulled the 'Space' Emperor from.

Would you consider creating that Supreme Dalek sometime in the future?

As it happens, as a result of your comment, I've done so! I decided I'd do it while I was tidying up my Space Dalek and Space Dalek Emperor models, so expect orthos of it soon!

I'm glad that someone has the logic behind these designs - I'm already getting confused.

I always thought these daleks were more impressive than the grey and black models they used before in the prevous two dalek stories (and after), even if they did appear at times to be a little hysterical! they just seemed to be a little bit more crafty and cunning than the others and more in tune with their black and white predecessors.

Is it wrong for me to say that this is my favourite Dalek model, next to the RTDs?

I was gonna say Death to the Daleks! Interesting choice, and very good too

Thanks! I ended up doing it mainly because there are a number of differences between how the props appear in Death and pretty much every other Dalek story made in the 70s. It seemed a shame not to fit that in somewhere!

Would be interesting to see your take on the machine gun replacements that were seen in that episode Also; I would love to see your Mk3 Travel Machine/1st Dalek piece again, I have to say i do love it
. Oh and I was wondering if you were going to work your way up the command structure

I will be redoing the Mk3 for the weekend - we're on one Dalek variant a day at the moment, but I'll stretch the definition on Saturday - and I will definitely be doing some higher-ups. As you can see, I've got the Emperor Dalek to chronicle, for a start!
As for the machine gun...yeah, I probably will!

Are you referring to the new Paradigm concept that the BBC came up for them? They look like more of
a parody concept instead of a Paradigm.
They should had used the Classic Color scheme from the Century 21 Comics series and the Amicus
movies on the 2005 upgraded versions and streamlined them, and passed them off as the new
paradigm for them.

I've said it before, but I rather like your handling of the different eras of Daleks and the inclusion of later elements into the mix. Very nifty!
Do you have any plans to re-render some of your earlier blender turn-arounds in this style? The white background makes identifying details much easier, which is something the Mark 3 Travel Machine specifically could benefit from.

Thank you!
Yes, I do plan to do this for the Mk 3 - I'm working my way through the entire back catalogue and redoing the textures, so they all look that little bit better. Should get the Mk 3 up at the weekend - it'll probably be the last I do, ironically enough!

Good to see the "real" Daleks are still remembered, not like those new IKEA child-friendly Daleks they have in the new Doctor Who.

Oh, all Daleks are remembered here, even those with the misfortune to be painted in bright colours.
