Description
A long time ago, on a distant planet, an evil emperor tricked a good wizard into making a spell that would doom the universe. But the wizard was cleverer than the emperor and he cast another spell, one that turned the monsters the emperor ruled over into little children. The children grew up fast and they refused to be the emperor's slaves anymore. They fought beside the good wizard and they brought the emperor's kingdom tumbling down. That is how humans might tell our story, as a fable with an end - a final end.
But we are not human. No matter how hard we wish, we can never truely human, never be real children.
We are the Resistance. And our story will not end as long as there are Daleks to fight.
Go listen to 'Evil of the Daleks'. Go read 'Children of the Revolution'. Expect this lot to show up in the New Dalek Chronicles if I ever got further than the first story.
Daleks, Beta and the Dalek Empire series belong to Terry Nation, the BBC and Big Finish.t

If you can, I think you should expand further on this idea...Maybe something more interesting will turn out?

Oh, there is much more to this idea already. Now that I have built the Daleks this lot were based on in Blender, I'm starting to think about recreating the Resistance as well - and expanding it.

That's the long term plan. Going to eventually transfer the designs across to Blender and do something with them properly. Might even animate it, eventually. However, that won't be for a while - not leat because my modelling computer is currently packed away in another county!

Cool. Do the resistance daleks have names?

They do!
They are, from left to right, Ares (big gun, NDP-type shell, bruiser type), Beta (sole survivor of the original Humanised Daleks, leader of the resistance, big damn hero), Galileo (scientist of the mad variety, prone to fits of brilliance), and Hortensis (a cheery chap whose main ability is being so colourful that it blinds the enemy).

No plans to do so. Frankly, I doubt I could match him for quality, and I wouldn't want to try without permission.
At the moment, I'm happy with my own bunch of Dalek freaks!

Well, technically all the humanised Daleks were killed, including the first three. The 'final end' wasn't a very final end at all.
But for the sake of your little fanfiction thing here we'll say the first three escaped. Right?

Librarian-bot In reply to Laharl234 [2010-07-04 22:35:04 +0000 UTC]
Oh no we won't. Omega is very clearly discovered as an escaped test subject by one of the Black Daleks and is later impersonated in an attempt to trick the Doctor - so it's a fair bet he's killed in the story. Alpha (I think) is the one who questions his orders but he's not actually exterminated - and after that, the battle is mainly between newly converted Daleks and the Black Daleks - Alpha and Beta are kind of left up in the air. I just ran with the logical option (Beta) given previous spin-offs of 'Evil'.
I think the only word on the outcome of the (not-so) final end being the complete annihilation of the humanised Daleks is in one of the guide books, which has far less 'canon' points than an actual story, so I shall gladly ignore it for the sake of my 'little fanfiction thing' but it's not going to be as simple as 'the first three escaped'.

No need to make an essay out of flippancy. I wasn't trying to insult anything or anyone, just saying you were taking artistic liscence.
There was a scene that was supposed to be in Power of the Daleks that said that the rebels were put down, which I imagine would include Alpha, Beta and Omega.
I like you referring to the Doctor as a wizard though in the fable. He definitely fills that role. In fact I imagined a version of Merlin that can regenerate, because I thought the idea was awesome. Not to mention that the Doctor will someday be called Merlin by the Arthur peoples.

No, you're right, there isn't. I'm afraid your post seemed a little patronising to me. And yes, I'd completely fogotten the line that was supposed to be in 'Day'. But since there was meant to be a story that (sort of) redeemed the Master, I don't really count it any more than that - it didn't happen, so the field is clear.
The Doctor being Merlin is a nice idea, isn't it? I wonder if the main universe one ever will be...it's hard to be sure from Battlefield whether it's the Doctor's actual future or an alternate one...

Laharl234 In reply to Librarian-bot [2010-07-05 10:03:41 +0000 UTC]
Well basically it can definitely be said that the 'final end' was definitely not the final end, AND it can be firmly said that the humanised Daleks lost (but could have fled and avoided being destroyed). My reasons for believing the humanised Daleks were killed though is that I can't see the Daleks giving up on destroying traitors. But then again I guess that's where you come in isn't it? But canonically I'd say the Daleks destroyed them all.
Here's another question; if the Doctor really is Merlin than could it be an adventure he has with River Song? Or another one; what will Matt Smith do to the Eleventh Doctor's costume as a change?

Eh, you're probably right. The humanised Daleks very obviously lost. Whether they all got wiped out is a different question - there's plenty of manouvering room, especially now we've got the Time War churning things up.
Dunno about the Doctor being Merlin with River Song along for the ride...could be. But I somehow doubt that bit of continuity is going to show up again any time soon.
And I personally am a big fan of the top hat and tux...

I don't remember the episode title, but I do remember the insinuation that the Sylvester McCoy Doctor was Merlin.
Or more precise that it was revealed when he was portrayed by S McCoy. Continuity can be confusing.

So is the Dalek Resistance good or do they just not like the Emperor, and if they succeed at taking over Skaro, they would still try to Exterminate the rest of the Universe?

Librarian-bot In reply to AJK123 [2010-07-04 22:38:35 +0000 UTC]
Good...? I suppose they are, in the grand scheme of things. They're Daleks subjected to 'the Human Factor', a mental extract of all that is best in humanity. They're monsters who've been transformed into an ideal...as a weapon against the Emperor Dalek.
It's probably going to get complicated...

It would be interesting to see the Doctor end up in a Parallel Universe, and meet truly good Daleks, that only want to live in peace through co-existence, rather than "Peace" through EXTERMINATION or Conquest.

Excellent work.
Though...didn't they all die in Children of the Revolution, better die than get brain sucked by a deadly octopus monster...or something (I haven't read Children of the Revolution for a while). One stand out this I do remember from that was some of the Daleks complaining that the humans got the elder's quarters (or something). What did those quarters look like, why did the Daleks need some special quarters in any case...what did they do with them?

Hmm...yes...good question.
Yeah, Alpha's people do all die in CotR, the idea behind the Resistance is that another group led by Beta escaped - each thought the other was dead, which is now most definitely the case for Alpha and co.

I thought it was incredibly sad that "all" the Daleks in CotR die. I think a second group lead by Beta is a brilliant idea.

Librarian-bot In reply to KLR101 [2010-09-28 18:24:20 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. I agree, CotR is a very sad story, especially due to the loss of all the humanised Daleks - the idea of them setting up their own society is rather wonderful.
I'm thinking the Resistance might not actually be a Dalek-only affair...perhaps the odd rogue Cyberman, Auton gone wild...maybe even a rather lost looking Quark!
