... and it has always annoyed me because this site was set up for "Artists" .... "Artists" have a soul and when they voice an opinion in mass it really should be listened too ... alas it looks like the site no longer shows any interest in the !Artists" who have made it a great site, a community :sigh:

I think they want to change it from an /Art/ site, to a /Social Media Art/ site.
Seems the likely motive. They are making it oppressive, turning the lights out.
I keep wondering to myself if I would hang my work in a gallery with only black walls.

i agree with you totally ... its aimed at social but i never joined it becuase it was another FB site .... even though over the years we all conect with each other, we become distant friends, we share ideas, we grow with each other, we discover people the same as us when we always thought we were the only ones who liked rust (for instance)

That was excellent, Chris, very well said. I joined when there was hardly anyone here, dA grew around me, massively grew. I just wanted to catalogue work and be able to send collectors somewhere easy to look. So dA has become, by default, my /only/ concession to social media, I don't do it, never did, could see where it was going. But for all that, what you said was exactly right. I didn't /want/ to be part of social media...but I have connected with people, artists here of such high value and temperament and beauty...and fun, at a safe enough distance to feel comfortable, but close enough to connect deeper and make friends, that to lose that would now...hurt.
What they are /trying/ to turn this place into is what already happens, but on /our/ terms...they want it to be on theirs. What they don't see/understand, they can't make money on. To us, we are bonded artists, to them we are profit units. That's the sad thing. Plus, come on, black? We're artists, we know what colour usage represents... dA green is, to me, so recognizable that it is almost sacred...black is, as I said, representative of oppression.
Whatever, I may be overthinking it...didn't have a good night.

youve got it totally correct ... but now the interaction no the spirit is being squeezed out ... what is a body without a head, once its removed we will be weak and we will all be brushed aside ... it would appear that we are an inconvenience because we are obviously troublesome or difficult with regard to "WIX" requirements or comfort.
