Like the concept of this, suppose we all could do with a hit or two

hmm what about a shot right this instant imagine the rush in your body - the warmth seeping out into all small dark hidden corners, the anticipation of what's to come - oh I don't need to go on you'll know

why did you choose to call this norepinephrine? I really enjoy the texture of this piece.

I read you have a degree in psychology so hope it's okay if I assume you know what norepinephrine is and does
Norepinephrine; at the time I painted this, to me, was about the effect of love.
Not familial love but the overwhelming falling 'in love' effect which changes our perceptions and perspective on everything and allows us to visit places in ourselves otherwise closed for business. Love as a drug I suppose...I was thinking about people who might chase the (falling in love) feeling like a drug and the far reaching effects that might have.
I have forgotten the feeling myself, it is long gone but I think I still symbolise that initial falling for someone (in movies or whatever) as a 'massive hit' of norepinephrine...I am probably wrong on a purely chemical/biological level but I spent a while with my particular ideas on this and made a couple of paintings about it, this is the only one I posted here.
Thank you very much, for an interesting question which has lead me back into one of my paintings and has taken me somewhere unexpected.

The lighting makes it look kind of digital, and the texture looks really strange. It's like math + punk + materic. I would have liked a little more of a traditional look (I'm kind of classic, so sue me XP) but your style is great anyway.

Thanks for the compliment, I won't sue you for having a preference, as the way you describe your reaction is what I wanted to put across. Thanks for looking, and the refreshingly insightful comments.

I really wish that I had that kind of skill with the different mediums. xD
I'll stick with pencil for now I suppose. xDDD

Thank you so much, it's all about lots of practising, but I just had a look and I really like your work, especially 'Eye Nose Mouth', keep it up! (:

I don't know what meaning this was suppose to have, but for me it seems like some sort of showing of the suffering of insanity. Counting out the Fibonacci sequence out of some impulse. For some reason it also seems like something connected to ADHD, by the broken sequence of tallies, if you ignore how much it resembles the Fibonacci sequence. Truly a piece to think about, which is why I like it so much.

I think I totally fail. I don't understand this at all; or, at least, I'm not seeing what everyone else seems to.
The notches look like words to me. It looks like it's a song, or part of one. These are the lyrics and the tone.

not sure if anyone else has asked this... but what is the connection between norepinephrine and the fibonacci sequence?

There is one, but it's metaphoric.

the lines on the side of the dashes reminds me of a screen, and the spaces seem like 001001110 's.. lol cool work, very simply yet evoking, x)

I've been looking at it for a good, oh, fifteen minutes, with another five or ten researching it, and I'm still totally confounded. I see the fibionacci sequence, the scores, the chemical connotations, but I can't make it click. Yet, at the same time, it's so captivating that I can't just give up and look away. It's kind of provoked my curiosity. A lot.
I can't wait until I get it.

My science teacher once got up on a chair and started dancing around singing 'Norepinephrine' to get us to remember the word.
