That is absolutely wonderful, thank you very much for the new discovery. I have absolutely no problem with my work being associated with this music!

coming thru again--your is the sort of work i come again and again (when i am well)-or not working myself
i feel the ceremonious burial of roses (if that makes sense?)
pain of the thorn and soft as the silk...but now the time has come to decay

Reveals....
What is it revealing?

...best to read it yourself if you have time...I can't explain it here in words...hence the painting!

oh, I have read it.
just have been actually.
some claim it was originally written by a woman. some claim it has the keys of transcendental travel in it. others, the true revelation.
either way, I enjoy it for reading.
great picture - captures something of it.

Thanks..
There's definitely a lot in Revelations to study...may have been written by a woman...that's interesting, I didn't know that, thanks!

Im impressed with how much you are able to express with limited use of color and nearly complete lack of form. You and one-eyed-cat are the best abstract expressionists around this place for sure. 20 years of practice you say, and it shows.
Currently im confused about how to express things. Taking up painting as a hobby (my main art form is music) has taught me the importance of expression, especially in a society with overwhelming communication problems...but now i am left kind of lost, trying to learn what is worth expressing and how best to express it.
I guess i am wondering if you know of a book that deals with this topic, in painting or in general. I think john zorn has written one for composing music but i haven't gotten my hands on it yet. Any leads are appreciated, thanks man.

Thanks a lot for the complimentary comment...I'll tell Birgit (one-eyed-cat) you said that, she'll like that I think. Yes 20 years...closer to 21 actually but it's easier to round it down. I started painting when I was 18 and am ,incidentally, turning 39 tomorrow.
Regarding your comment about expression, which was very well put, especially the part about the overwhelming problems of communication in society. I would say this; try to express that which is as deeply personal to you as you can...but make sure it is yours. The art "world" suffers greatly (as does most of the rest of the "business" world) from a case of narcissistic indulgence which is so short sighted it is almost blind to it's own detritus. The antithesis to this is being absolutely sure that what you are expressing is as deeply touching to you as possible...then make it real in whatever medium fits that 'mood'. My rule of thumb (regarding my paintings and deviantArt specifically) is this; if I feel nervous and edgy about posting something then I know I've at least come some way to "doing my job" as an artist.
If you want ever want to discuss expression or technique feel free to ask!
The only book I would be happy recommending, if you can find it is: -
"The Creative Impulse (in writing and painting)"
H. Caudwell
Macmillan & CO. Ltd
London
1951
(no isbn...I have a first edition and that's all the info in the cover.)
Hope that's of use.
Neil

Fascinating story, very deep colors. Abstract means sometimes a lot more than actual representations. For me it is something like awareness in the night, not insomnia but looking, searching, remenbering.
