EDIT: Gah, I didn't realize how bright that was when I uploaded it. Fixed. On a side note, I never can tell anymore. My Mac shows a brightness disparity between Photoshop and preview/internet, so I'm never quite sure just how bright any of my stuff really is...Portrait of Michael that didn't make into my latest sketch dump because (1) I forgot about it and (2) it is technically finished...

Nice portrait, it looks like a bust sculpture. Simple, however it just does not seem very outstanding in my opinion, but not bad. The light auburn hair is consistent. I do like how his smirk comes off as being suave, arrogant and slightly childish. A blend that is very difficult to pull off, but you did remarkably well here. Are his eyes red or brown? I can't really tell. Overall, this just seems too traditional; perhaps a different background color might make him pop off the page better or something.

I'm always glad when the emotions I'm trying to convey actually come in across in my drawings. Suave, arrogant, and slightly childish- that pretty much describes Michael. 
I would play around with it some more because it does seem a bit... 'meh' to me as well, but I accidentally collapsed the layers on the file... and so I can't really do anything more to it. I'm just glad I finally have a picture of Michael looking like himself.

Pleasure was mine, I'm glad I could be of use. I can understand that getting characters to look amazing is indeed, a frustration but a rewarding one. Michael does sound like an interesting character.

Heh, mental disorders do seem give a more faceted dimension to characters if done well. I love how Poe and Lovecraft play with the character's heads as well as the reader's.
