Atoya hadn't thought fear could grip her heart any tighter until she'd forced her stiffened neck to turn. Her eyes met another huge, hulking beast - this one much lighter in pelt than the first.

The two beasts seemed suddenly focused only on each other. They let out a series of huffs - varying in volume - and what sounded like strange growls.

The young handler kept her arms around Truly for what little security she had thought she was becoming less and less reassuring as she felt the toki trembling beneath her gloved hands. How could she have missed two of these giants in this winter wasteland?

It was when she looked closer at the light pelted beast that she began to piece it together. He had fresh cuts and wounds as well as blood caked around his maw that seemed like it had been there longer than the half blind beast's and he had come from behind them.

He had been hunting them.

He had killed the Tokota down the slope.
