How do you draw backgrounds I can never draw them and if I did, I could never draw them well

It takes a lot of practice. (and even then, I still find it hard to do!) I start with a sketch and a lot of reference pics, and once I get closer to something I like, I trace vectors over it.

Hey, I was wondering if u can use use gimp to do the same thing as well?

I haven't played with Gimp much, but I don't see why not. It's the same basic principles, but the tools and controls might be a bit different.
