I had a little bit of time on Sunday so I started this portrait. I wanted to make something with softer edges (something I still struggle with). It's not really done. I want to come up with a neat sci-fi angle to it like perhaps a bionic chip or device on the side of her face, or maybe even make her some type of alien. I have a lot of commercial projects to get back to, so I welcome any further ideas until I can pick it back up and finish it.________________________________
Done in photoshop. About 6 hours. No tracing or over-painting. This is not a photo manipulation.
Very loose ref on the face was used (and I even glanced at pics of Patric Stewart- lol). Edit: I looked at this- [link] to begin with as I liked the cold stare but as with any ref I use I made it my own and used it only as a starting point. No, the face was not referenced off of Natalie Portman.

It's hard to see how Natalie Portman was not a point of reference on this one. She does look a lot like her in V for Vendetta. Good job anyway!

This is most definitely NOT her but people will draw parallels to whatever they have in their heads. There is nothing I can do about that. *shrugs* Thanks though.

It's an amazing piece. She definitely is different from the reference photo. I went to compare a photo with Natalie Portman, who has a smaller forehead, bushier eyebrows, higher bridged nose and unrefined lips. I'd ignore the comments about similarities to her. Can't wait to see the end result of this alien

Hey thanks! I get comments often about how an image looks like so and so. Truth be told, everybody looks like somebody. Yeah, I ought to finish up that version. If I don't get to it soon then I will just post a WIP of it.

She reminds me a lot of the character played by Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta.
There's a very striking resemblance.

Hm, well not for long then. I've been working on the alien version of it and I should be posting it here soon. I am swamped with commission and commercial jobs and I haven't had time to finish it- but having it look like her was never my intention.

Really beautiful colors and expression; I just hope that, whatever you end up adding, you keep it minimal. I think a lot of the beauty in this image comes from its simplicity. Anyway, nice work ^^

I think you should definitely add some kind of cybernetic enhancement to her face, and make her look like Federova from Deus Ex. She already looks quite a bit like her.
